A few weeks ago, I was having a conversation with a friend.
As we talked, she mentioned how tired she had been lately.
Not sick.
Not overwhelmed.
Just tired.
I nodded because I understood.
Then she laughed and said, "I can't even remember the last time I woke up feeling fully rested."
What surprised me wasn't what she said.
It was how casually she said it.
As though it was completely normal.
The conversation moved on, but her words stayed with me.
Later that evening, I found myself wondering how many things we accept simply because we've lived with them for a long time.
The stress we've learned to carry.
The habits we've stopped questioning.
The exhaustion we've quietly adjusted to.
The thoughts that run through our minds every day without challenge.
Sometimes nothing dramatic happens.
There isn't a crisis.
There isn't a breaking point.
There is only a gradual adjustment until what once felt unusual becomes familiar.
And familiar begins to feel normal.
Perhaps one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves from time to time is:
"What have I adapted to?"
Not with judgment.
Not with urgency.
Just with curiosity.
Because sometimes growth begins when we notice what we've stopped noticing.
This week's Sunday Wisdom Talk explores this idea more deeply.
