The 2026 Bondurant-Farrar Boys Track & Field season will be remembered as a year defined by growth, resilience, hard work, and the results that followed. From the first practice of the season to the final event on the state stage, this team consistently pushed the standard higher and delivered one of the strongest seasons in program history.
The journey was not without challenges. A difficult spring brought rough weather conditions throughout much of the season, causing multiple meet cancellations and creating constant adjustments to schedules and routines. Through cold temperatures, rain, wind, and uncertainty, the Bluejays continued to show resilience and remained focused on improving each day. Rather than allowing obstacles to slow them down, the team used those challenges as motivation.
Throughout the year, the Bluejays produced countless personal best performances and showed steady improvement across every event group. Their dedication and commitment led to athletes competing on some of Iowa’s biggest stages, including Drake Relays qualifiers and an impressive 13 athletes earning the opportunity to compete at the state meet across 8 total events.
The success extended far beyond individual accomplishments. The team put together strong performances throughout the postseason, earning high finishes at both the conference and state qualifying meets, proving the depth and competitiveness of the program. History continued to be rewritten this season as the Bluejays broke 5 new school records, bringing the total to 11 school records set over the last two seasons. Those performances are a reflection of athletes willing to chase excellence and a program culture built around daily improvement.
The season concluded with two events reaching the state finals and bringing home state medals, capping off an exciting and memorable finish to the year.
Perhaps the most meaningful part of this season came beyond the marks, medals, and records. The 2026 season marked the final chapter of Coach Hammes' remarkable 33-year career leading the Bondurant-Farrar Boys Track & Field program. His dedication, leadership, and impact on generations of athletes helped build the foundation that continues to drive the program forward. There could not have been a more fitting way to close an incredible coaching career than with a season filled with achievement, growth, and athletes competing for one another.
Thank you to our athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters for helping make 2026 a season to remember.
