“If you’re watching college softball right now, here’s something I want you to pay attention to — and it has nothing to do with perfection.

Watch how they handle the inning that doesn’t go their way.
Watch what happens after a mistake.
Watch how they respond when a pitch misses, when an error happens behind them, when momentum shifts.

College pitchers are not perfect.
They never were.

What separates them is their ability to stay in it.

They don’t spiral after one pitch.
They don’t assume success once means success again.
They don’t disappear when things get uncomfortable.

They compete.
They adjust.
They stay present.

And that didn’t magically appear when they stepped on a college field.

That was built years earlier — in high school.

High school is where pitchers learn how to:
• bounce back without drama
• manage emotion without shutting down
• lead without needing everything to go right
• trust their preparation even when results are inconsistent

It’s where they learn that confidence isn’t fragile.
It’s built through repetition, failure, and self-awareness.

College softball rewards the pitcher who understands this truth early:
One pitch doesn’t define you — and neither does one season.

So when you’re watching college games, don’t just watch the radar gun or the stat line.

Watch the composure.
Watch the body language.
Watch the response.

That’s the real separator.

And it starts long before college ever becomes a reality.

High school is not about being flawless.
It’s about learning how to handle the game — and yourself — when it isn’t.
