Helping Hands Doula Service

Helping Hands Doula Service I have always wanted to be involved with the delivery of babies but was not sure how to get started.

I had a midwife and a Doula with my pregnancys and i loved both experiences. As time went by i decided to try the Doula role and i completed my training in March of 2011through DONA ( Doulas of North America) International. My goal with this service is to help teenage girls as well as adult women go through this life changing event. I have been on both sides of delivery and i have delivered natura

lly and with the epidural. Im not here to tell any women that they cant have an epidural but i am here to help them work through it the best they can with out one. My job is to give women emotional and physical support during labor. Im not there to take the place of a spouse or a family member but im there to get them as involved as they want to be and if there is not one there then im there to help.

I'm so blessed to be a Doula and help parents bring there baby into this world. But not only am I a doula, I have been a gestational surrogate twice. I delivered my first Surro baby in August of 2014 and my second in December of 2015.
Since I have been doing back to back surrogacies but Doula business has slowed down. But I'm ready to get out there again and start helping parents.
I'm excited to announce that I have a new client and a returning client due to give birth In the coming months. I'm so excited for these new experiences. I definitely promise to keep everyone posted.

Yesterday I received a text roughly around 3 pm from a second time doula client. At 36 weeks she was in labor. I showed up at her home and we labored there for a few hours. At 724 PM her cervix was still a 2. She was then checked an hour later before walking and she was 4cm and 80%. We walked for a while and at 1020pm was a 5. She kinda stalled a little and at 3am she was 6. We decided she should definitely try to rest a little. She woke up at 454 am and was checked again Her cervix was then a 7. We really thought she would go faster at that point but didn't. Dr broke her water at 542am. She went to 8 right after. She got to the point where she needed to push at 634am she was 9 with a small part of cervix left. She told the nurse she had to push and they told her she was not ready. The nurse left and I was breathing with her, then she really felt she had to push, we tried to breath through the pain but she was unable to a ended up pushing a little. The nurse came In just in time as mom reached down and pulled baby out. At 639am a handsome 7.15 baby boy was born. Mama did it with no meds and rocked the whole process I'm so proud of her and thankful that I could be there to assist in another of her deliveries.

This past week I went to Oregon to assist with the Delivery of my New Neice. I'm so happy to say she finally made her self known after a short 4 hour labor. I'm so happy for my SIL and BIL.

As a birth doula, one thing I do with EVERY client is a birth plan. No matter how many times you have delivered before, or even if I was your doula the first time I always do one. I'm so familiar with them I don't even need the paper to ask questions pertaining to the plan. So why am I having the hardest time coming up with one for me? Maybe it's because I know how labor goes and it being so unpredictable or the fact that I know drs and they don't always listen. Man, I need to get to together. Lol

There has been a lot of talk recently about Doulas and how they handle situations or push there way of thinking on others. I can only speak for myself but I want to clarify.
I have been a doula for 9 years but only certified for about a year. Having 5 kids of my own and helping bring over 11 babies into the world, I know EVERY birth is different. There are things that work on some ladies and others hate it. It's important to me that I know the lady and what she is wanting out of the process.
As a doula, I have never and would never push how I feel on a client. Yes I believe natural is the way to go but I have had an epidural before as well. Sometimes it comes to that moment where the women just knows she can't do it. I'm not the one to put her down and tell her otherwise if she elects to do that. I'm there for support till she is done with me. Any of my past clients can agree to this. I truly feel every women deserves a Doula and I'm here to answer questions or concerns about this topic or any other. Thanks for reading :)

I experienced one of my longest deliveries this morning. I received the call Saturday morning at 730am. I headed to the house at 8 and drove 3 hr 45 mins to be with her. She was so strong and so tough. She got the breathing down like a champ and was doing everything she needed to, just progressing very slowly. We finally headed to the hospital at 350pm Sunday night. At 236am a very handsome little man was born into this world. His mom did amazing. As a first time mom she picked up the breathing for pushing on the second try. After the 3rd set of pushing baby's head was delivered ( by it's self, but almost by grandma and myself) and at the first push of the fourth set he was here. Dr came in shortly after to take care of the placenta and all that happens after. Man, I give this mama credit. She was a breathing champ. I wish we could bottle that up and give it to every laboring mom. It was a great experience and I'm so happy this couple now has their baby boy! Another successful delivery!
