Never forget, kiddo.

Somewhere between the noise of the engines and the rush of race night…

there is this.

A little boy in a race suit, standing still for just a moment, looking toward a track that feels so much bigger than he is.

He doesn’t know yet how many nights will be hard.

He doesn’t know about the wins, the losses, the broken parts, the long drives, or the money it takes to chase a dream.

He just knows he wants to race.

And maybe that’s the most beautiful part.

Before the pressure.

Before the expectations.

Before the trophies and the points and the checkered flags…

there is just a kid with a dream.

And a whole lot of people standing behind him, hoping he never forgets why he started.

We have watched Mav grow as a driver this season, but these are some of the moments that make us the proudest. These moments that show his 💪🏼 grit and 👊🏼 sportsmanship no matter the situation. Because while racing is obviously about winning 😉, it's also about building character.

*Was leading the race and got tipped over for the first time. He got his frustrated emotions in check and chose to rejoin the race.

Drove hard and cleanly thru his frustrations, regained 4 spots in the final 7 laps to earn a podium finish. 🏆

Immediately got out of his car to congratulate the winner with a smile on his face. 🤘🏼

*I chose this picture rather than the one of him tipped because I want to brag on our infield crew. I am never nervous for Mav's safety when he is on the track.🤷🏼‍♀️ I know all the precautions we take with the car/safety gear and I know these guys are right there with him the whole time.
Matt Long (in black) was running onto the track before Mav even finished tipping and other cars got stopped. He does this for every crash.
Kenny Johnson (in pink) immediately found a leak and plugged it....with his finger and no plan beyond that. 😂
Miss Jami Taylor (in white 🫶🏼) gave Mav a pep talk once he was back on all 4s and got everyone calmed down.

I know there are big scary crashes coming, they are inevitable - we see them all the time. At SSMC at least, I know these guys will be right there in the thick of it to get Mav the help he needs. So for now, I don't go borrowin' trouble. 😉
