Flash Foxy BADASS CREW
Shelma, her foxy climber friends, and their epic rock adventures! www.instagram.com/heyflashfoxy We love it!

Flash Foxy was created to celebrate women climbing with women and foster creative design ideas for the outdoors. I met all these foxy climber babes over the last few years through our local climbing gym, mutual friends and climbing trips and realized how fun and supportive it is to climb with other women and genderqueer folks. While I love our male climbing partners and friends, I noticed that the

re was a unique dynamic when it was just us… whether at the climbing gym, outdoors or even just hanging out together. I hope you can come to Flash Foxy and feel inspired by and connected to a new kind of climbing community. We share stories about our thoughts, experiences and adventures as badass climbers! xx, Shelma

Join (they/them) to practice “Falling on Gear!” This training addresses falling directly to help improve commitment. We do progressive falling practice followed by movement, breathing, resting, and body/mind awareness exercises. Students leave understanding how to take appropriate risks and how to commit to those risks. Students will practice the following skills during this course: fall properly, give a dynamic (cushioned) belay, break a climb into smaller risk events, assess risk effectively, distinguish between no- and yes-fall zones, engage no- and yes-fall zones appropriately, make appropriate risk decisions, improve body/mind awareness, rest effectively, improve breathing, create flow and momentum, deal with climbing stress, commit more deliberately, reduce fear, and more!
*** Must be able to comfortably top rope 5.8 in the Gunks or 5.10 indoors. Must know how to lead belay. Some experience placing trad gear (such as an Intro to Trad clinic) or leading trad is required.

Join Rise Outside co-founder Alexis Krauss (she/her) to practice strategies for climbing mindfully and connecting with nature in her clinic “Rocks, Birds and Breathing” 🪨🐦😮‍💨
Do you love climbing rocks but also love nerding out about birds, bugs, lichen and all the other amazing beings we share the cliffs with? Then this is the clinic for you! Together we’ll learn about the land, flora, fauna and practice strategies for staying present, grateful and clear while climbing. Climbing is so much more than moving up rocks, it’s about staying connected to ourselves and the natural world around us.

Sam Haines (they/she) Sam Haines has always been drawn to climbing. They started at 3 years old, climbing the banister and trees of their home, and quickly progressed to rock. As a teen, they found mentorship in the community and learned the skills to top rope and teach other youth. Over the years, they progressed from sport, trad, Ice, and alpine climbing in the Northeast and other ranges across the US. Sam has worked for 15 years in outdoor education with pre-k through 12th graders. They have also been working as an organizer and volunteer of the Adirondack Q***r Icefest since its founding in 2021. With these experiences, Sam brings a passion for teaching others skills to empower their own pursuits and a dedication to expanding the climbing community for marginalized people.
Join Sam for a “Multi-pitch Magic” clinic on Sunday, October 4th at the Flash Foxy Mini Fest in the Gunks 🍂 Clinic registration opens September 1st for festival ticket holders!
