Mayor Randall Woodfin will proclaim November 5, 2026, as International Project Management Day in Birmingham. PMI Central Alabama Chapter will receive the proclamation on November 3, during the Mayor’s Report at the City Council meeting.

This recognition honors the people trusted to turn investments into results, help essential services reach residents, and guide complex work from intention to completion. As Birmingham addresses infrastructure needs, economic growth, and technological change, project management capability is essential to its future.

Through this year’s Community in Action programming, our members have explored these responsibilities in airport operations, emergency response, and discussions with regional leaders. The proclamation brings public recognition to the profession supporting those systems.

To our members and fellow project professionals: thank you for the expertise, judgment, and accountability you bring to this work.

We invite you to celebrate with us.

The meal at Professional Development Day 2026 is a chance to pause, share a table, and continue the conversations started during the day. Chef’s Chef Catering will help us make that time welcoming and enjoyable.

Chef Ray Franklin Jr. and Vanessa Franklin have built Chef’s Chef around flavorful food, thoughtful presentation, and personal service. Vanessa sees catering as a way to care for people and build relationships, and that attention to guests is part of the experience she and Chef Ray bring to each event.

We’re pleased to have their team cater PDD 2026 on October 8 at Innovation Depot. We look forward to sharing their food and hospitality with you.

Community doesn’t stop at the boundaries of an organization. It grows through connection.

In this month’s President’s Corner, PMI Central Alabama Chapter President Rosalind Parks, PMP, reflects on the power of building meaningful partnerships across our professional community.

Throughout 2026, our chapter has continued strengthening relationships with project professionals, employers, academic institutions, community organizations, and strategic partners. Because the strongest partnerships aren’t simply transactional—they create opportunities, expand access, connect talent, and bring new perspectives into the room.

As Rosalind shares, when those relationships work together, community becomes more than a network. It becomes an ecosystem.

And that’s what Community in Action is all about: looking beyond who is already in the room and continuing to build relationships that make the room bigger.

Read this month’s President’s Corner and discover why partnership is essential to building a stronger project management community.
