“First 11U tournament in the books, and although we didn’t come out on top, we were very happy with what we saw. We wanted to get the reps in before our big tournament in two weeks, and we needed to see where folks needed work and to see them be tested.

There are for sure areas we need to iron out. But the biggest takeaway from this weekend was seeing them apply correction after a loss, errors, and how they needed to be there for one another. Overall, controlling their response.

Because that’s what separates teams as they move forward in the season at this young age: how they respond to correction, emotions, stress, and failure.

Winning is a byproduct of being prepared. So, let’s get back to preparation with these awesome girls!!

🥎 BRACKET PLAY STARTS TODAY! 🥎

The MS RAYS 11U • CHU are ready to get back on the field! Yesterday gave us some great moments, but it also showed us a few things we need to clean up and improve on. Today is about making those adjustments, trusting the work, and continuing to grow together.

Our first bracket game is 9:30 AM vs. Gulf Coast Ballers on Field 8.

🥎THE WAIT IS OVER… IT’S TOURNEY TIME!🥎

The offseason is officially behind us, and the MS RAYS 11U • CHU are ready to step between the lines for the FIRST TOURNAMENT OF OUR SEASON!

This weekend, we’re headed to Saraland, Alabama, to compete in the USSSA Survive the 5 @ The Land at The Land Sport Complex. And while this may be our first tournament of the season, it certainly isn’t the first time these girls have put in the work.

The practices.
The extra reps.
The adjustments.
The mistakes.
The breakthroughs.
The moments when things didn’t come easy—but they kept going anyway.

That’s where this team has been built.

Over the offseason, we’ve watched these girls grow—not just as softball players, but as teammates, competitors, and young ladies. They’ve been challenged to step outside their comfort zones, learn from failure, trust the process, and understand that improvement doesn’t happen overnight.

Every rep has had a purpose.
Every correction has had a purpose.
Every tough practice has had a purpose.

Now, it’s time to put that work to the test. 💪🏼

Saturday brings pool play, where we’ll get our first opportunity to compete together this season. Then, on Sunday, it’s bracket play—and that’s when the intensity rises, the competition gets tougher, and every pitch, every at-bat, every defensive play, and every decision matters.

But regardless of what the scoreboard says, our expectation remains the same:

👉🏼COMPETE. TRUST EACH OTHER. PLAY THE GAME THE RIGHT WAY.

We aren’t chasing perfection. We’re chasing progress.

We want to see the girls play with confidence, respond when things don’t go their way, pick each other up, celebrate each other’s successes, and never let a moment become bigger than the team.

Because this season is about more than wins and losses.

It’s about watching a group of girls become something special together. ❤️

And if the work they’ve put in during the offseason is any indication of what’s ahead…

“Saw a lot of good and a lot of bad today at practice. One thing that stood out to me the most was the anxiety some of these girls have during practice.

After practice, my speech was centered around this topic. Because, let’s be real—this is more than a sport. It’s more than a team. They are living some of the best years of their youth, and they have to remember that.

Plus, it’s practice for a reason. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail. Until you learn how not to.

I don’t judge failure. I look at your response to it. I look at how you handle corrections. I look at whether you get back up, make the adjustment, and keep going.

Character is built by what you do when no one is looking.
