Getting started with the AR-15
Classroom only; parts, features, operation, and functions; overview of cleaning and maintenance; accessorizing the AR-15; basics about using the AR-15 and its use for home defense. Bring AR-15 rifle, 2-point sling, 2 empty magazines. If using an optic (scope or red dot), optic must already be mounted. You/we will rough-zero your sights/optic in class. No live ammo allowed in the classroom.
AR-15 Practical Drills
Range time including safety essentials, confirmation of zero, and use/operation of an AR-15; students will work on practical drills that focus on getting out of the optic and working on effective shot cadence, along with skill building and AR-15 shooting fundamentals, including recoil management, reloads, and malfunction clearance. Prerequisite: AR-15 Getting Started with the AR15 classroom session.
AR-15 Cognitive Skills
Range time including review of safety essentials, confirmation of zero, and use/operation of an AR-15; students will work on cognitive drills that build on AR-15 shooting fundamentals and require decision making and the application of skills for effective target transition, balance of speed and precision, and defensively accurate hits on target. Prerequisites: AR-15 Getting Started with the AR15, and AR-15 Practical Drills.
Instructor-led presentation highlighting the history and popularity of the AR-15; parts, features, functions and operation; overview of cleaning and maintenance; accessorizing the AR-15; and discussion about using the AR-15 for home defense. Participants will boresight zero their rifle. No live ammo
