Hello Bethany Friends and Families!

We have a few different fall programs coming up, and we're so excited to share them with you.

Returning this fall is Baking w/ Mrs. Babbitz. There are two 4-week sessions available for each age group (grades K-2 and grades 3-6). Children will bake sweet treats, learn about safety in the kitchen, and enjoy their creations!

There are two sessions of Kidding Around Yoga: Mindfulness for grades K-6. Yoga Instructor Sherri will lead children in fun and interactive yoga practices that combine exciting movement and mindfulness.

There is one session of Paint like Picasso w/ Caelan where children grades K-6 will learn about some of the greatest artists in history and get the chance to try out the painting techniques they were known for.

Coach Williams will be running a Kids Soccer program for children in grades K-2. Participants will learn the rules of the sport and how to work with their teammates.

Coach Manny Patel from Marcy’s Tennis Academy (MTA) will be leading Tennis Lessons @ Veteran’s Park for children in grade K-6. Participants of all abilities will build confidence, develop their skills, and enjoy learning the game of tennis.

The Bethany Parks & Recreation Department is also hiring a Basketball Program Coordinator part-time from January to March. The coordinator will lead and oversee basketball activities for students grades K-6. The coordinator will be responsible for organizing, planning, and executing a basketball program and to promote community participation, teamwork, and physical activity.

The work schedule will be determined by the Basketball Program Coordinator and the Director of Parks & Recreation based on gym availability. A typical work week will include most nights and one weekend day (approximately 15-20 hours a week).

We would like to promote two events happening this August.

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training for teens aged 12-17 will be taking place on Wednesday, August 5th and Thursday, August 6th. This two-day class will be held in the Woodbridge Library Meeting Room from 9:00am to 1:00pm and is sponsored by Woodbridge Youth Services. To register, visit the Town of Woodbridge Recreation website. More information can be found in the flyer below.

The 7th Grade Picnic will take place on Thursday, August 27 at Amity Middle School Bethany (AMSB) and is sponsored by both the Woodbridge Youth Services and the Town of Bethany. All incoming 7th grade AMSB students are welcome. Please note that we are still looking for volunteers to chaperone the event and we are taking gift card donations for the raffle.
