Hello all!
It is officially the end of the regular season! 8 weeks flies by every year and not a single rain date was used! .
We DO have U11-U14 Playoffs this weekend at the New England Sports Hub "The Dome", they are from 9-1pm, it will be a double elimination with a 9v9 format, shortened games, all are welcome and encouraged to attend, there is no fee, bring a chair, and cheer on our athletes one last time!
U11-U14 Teams: Please see prior email regarding rules and specific style of games. An email will be coming this week with specific seedings, where you landed, what time you'll be playing, etc. Plan on arriving, dressed and ready, no earlier than 15 minutes before your first game's start time.
Pictures and Fatheads: If you are looking for your pictures and/or 'fathead' please email us at [email protected] to arrange pick up.
First, thank you to all the grown-ups that showed up for our 360+ players this year. There is no greater joy than to be a part of what is affectionately coined as 'Soccer Saturdays' in Berwick; the fields are buzzing, the cowbells are ringing, freeze pops are everywhere, children are playing, nobody is spreading out or passing, the random 'mini' games that form after U4 games are all done are absolute MAGIC, and I appreciate all the effort involved just getting your kid(s) there each week.
Second, our Sponsors! We are so thankful to have so many area businesses that support our program and help make it affordable to all! We appreciate the support of: Berwick Library Association, Lapierre Septic, Legacy Health, Maggie's Dine+Drive, Bull Pine Tree Service, Berwick Police, Atlas Stone Works, Moe's Italian Sandwiches, Charles S Hatch Post 79, H3 Landworks, Jordyn Koelker Realty, Nola & Associates Keller Williams, North Berwick Auto Center, Dan Davis Sales, Hackmatack Bison, Canbury Homes, Primal Fit, Noble Girls Soccer, Hall Brothers Roofing, Kennebunk Savings Bank, Soul Shine Maine Tie Dye, Absolute Power, DeSantis Heating and Cooling, Berwick Fire Department, Ron's Auto Body, Burke's Tree Service, Timmy Crichton Memorial, Eleveight Design, Mortairvent - Advanced Building Products, Resistance Futsal, Lake Graphics, Spence and Mathews Insurance, Glen with 'The Defenders', Aroma Joes-Berwick, Haley Rose Photography, Sunlife Financial, New England Sports Hub, and Hannaford-North Berwick. Please make every effort you can to support these small local businesses that help our program thrive!
Third, the Coaches! We appreciate your passion, your dedication, your drive, and your leadership. You do what most don't and that is volunteer.
Fourth, our Refs! I truly love that you all come ready to lead, ready to make lasting friendships, and a mindset to grow the next generation. We appreciate you all, thank you for being great role models!
Lastly, the BYSA Board! What. A. Year. I appreciate all the hours that you give, selflessly, and without a second thought. We are a small, but MIGHTY board, who have continually served our community in an effort to make the soccer season happen each year. I estimated the hours volunteered by our board members this year: 1250 hours. 660 of these hours (53%) are before the first ball of the season is even kicked. It takes A LOT of time and effort to make as large of a program as we have run each year, I commend each and every one of you for choosing to make this a priority. A BIG THANK YOU go to: Shawn, Mel, Erin, Derrick, Jeff, Kendra, and Mike B. Our 'honorary' members: Christina and Derrick B, Mike C, Kyle, Glen, and Darryl. Additionally, to any spouses/partners involved, I guarantee you were roped into helping somewhere along the way. I appreciate you all. ❤
We will have many open positions on our Board for next year, we have many Board Members 'retiring' next year as their child(ren) have aged out of the program, if you would like to know how you can assist going forward please don't hesitate to email [email protected]
Final notes, it has been my pleasure serving you all the past 3 years as President of BYSA, it has challenged me in ways to grow as a leader, it has given me a lot of perspective and empathy for my community and its' members, and it has allowed me an opportunity to grow as a person and a parent. Please be kind to one another, cheer on a stranger, work hard, always have a growth mindset, congratulate your enemy, help others in need without being asked, and show up like your kid's life depends on it, it will get you far in life.
Cheers to a great 2025 season and we hope to see everyone Saturday!
Ashleigh Fallon
2025 President of BYSA
