Got the opportunity to celebrate our 2025-26 basketball season this week! I cannot say enough about this group and the work and effort they put in this season! Finished as District 4-AA Tournament Champs, 3rd place in the Battle of the States Christmas Tournament, 15-13 overall record, and made a regional appearance! To the seniors, Tessa, Brooke, Mallie, Olivia thank you for your consistent effort, energy, and leadership this season. You have left your mark on this program and raised the bar! You all will be dearly missed. To the underclassman returning....we still have work to do and I look forward to watching you all develop and grow. This group was fun to be around and to coach and I could not be more grateful to be your coach! Thank you for the memories and for another wonderful year! Thank you to the fans, families, friends, and this community that constantly supported us along the way!

Way to go Zellah!

Polk County Chamber of Commerce congratulates Zellah Branham, Player of the Week for week-ending April 11, 2026!

Zellah is a freshman at Polk County High School where she represents the Lady Wildcats on the softball team. She had a tremendous week at the plate last week with 6 hits, including an out-of-the-park homerun. She also pitched a 5-0 shutout with 9 strikeouts and 0 walks. As a freshman, Zellah leads the team with an ERA of 1.71and is a leader in RBIs for the season.

As a 3-sport athlete, Zellah represents PCHS in soccer and basketball in addition to softball. She maintains a 3.7 GPA and is enrolled in Honors courses. She is a member of Pep Club, ATS the Bridge, and FCA. In her spare time, Zellah plays travel softball and assists with team basketball camps. She is also active with the youth at Echoes of Mercy Baptist Church. According to coach Lily Cuzzort, “Zellah has a lot of skill and talent, and we are looking forward to watching her grow and mature into it even more over the next several years.”

The outstanding athletic performance, as well as the characteristics demonstrated in the classroom and community by Zellah are what the Player of the Week is based on. Pictured with Zellah is Chamber Diplomat Ryan Qualls and PCHS student Diplomat Carlee Cross.
