Day 2 of our Arkansas adventure.
Another day battling ice and snowy conditions.
We’re fortunate the adult birds are still hanging in the area, because hunting a buckwheat field today was no easy task. Tough conditions, tough birds—but we’re continuing to grind it out.
Good times, hard work, new adventures and goose gumbo. 🪿🍲🍺

One-lane highways, icy conditions, long hours behind the wheel.
We didn’t come this far to turn around.
Paid off with a solid day in the field and white-fronted geese and snows on the ground.
That’s what the grind is all about.

Wrapping up another Pennsylvania duck season 🦆
This season flew by faster than expected. Between work and missing my old yellow lab, Brie, especially around Christmas, I didn’t get out as much as I hoped.
That said, the future is bright. My young pup Reese brought a whole new injection of energy to the field and logged her first duck retrieves this season—something I’ll never forget.
Glad to finish the year strong with a few black ducks in the bag and even better memories made. Grateful for the lessons, the dogs, and the time we do get out there.
Here’s to the next season. FOWL 24-7 🤘

Big day and a first for Reese Rye! 🦆💪
What started as a training walk turned into a jump-shooting opportunity, and a few mallards ended up right in the middle of a farm pond.
Being Reese never retrieved a duck before I was thinking can or will she even do this...
So I lined up Reese, and with no hesitation she launched off the bank, and went to work.
All the hours of training at home and away, all the questions of “can she do it?” were answered today. Those worries blew away with the 25 mph wind gusts, and Reese proved she’s got the heart and drive.
Proud moment in the field. This is what it’s all about.
