Late racing update!

On Thursday, August 27th, Kade took some time off from work and we went racing at Grand Rapids Speedway! Kade drew the 64, which meant he started 4th in the heat race. The first few laps were pretty standard, with Kade keeping up with the front runners. However, we encountered some steering issues later on. We discovered that the lower control arm bushings were damaged, causing the control arm to slide around. Due to these complications, we ended up falling back two spots and finishing 6th. Although Kade didn’t make it to the redraw, we managed to start 6th in the feature race.

Before the feature, Buck and Kade managed to fix a few minor issues. However, what was truly required were replacement parts, which we unfortunately didn’t have on hand. Throughout the feature, there was a lot of back-and-forth. At one point, Kade managed to move up to 4th place. However, due to the steering problems, he eventually fell back and finished 5th.

On Saturday, August 29th, we returned to Greenbush. Kade drew and 82, putting him 7th in his heat. From the very beginning, Kade gained a couple of positions within the first few laps. However, the race was not without its challenges. Multiple cautions were issued throughout the race, which had both positive and negative impacts on Kade’s progress. One occurred when a car got loose and turned down on Kade, causing a minor pile-up with other cars on the front stretch. After enduring several more cautions, he managed to navigate his way through the race and ultimately crossed the finish line, securing 3rd.

Kade started 4th in the feature. On the first lap, he managed to move up to third, but the yellow flag was dropped shortly after. During the restart, Kade charged up to second, but he was pushed and spun by another driver on the backstretch. Somehow, the caution was called on Kade. He was sent to the back, now in 8th place. Despite his performance, he finished 7th in the remaining laps. It wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, especially considering his strong showing.

Bemidji Speedway was set to host the championship night on Sunday, but unfortunately, the event was canceled due to the forecasted rain.

There are some technical difficulties on this one! The events of the last restart were not recorded- though not missing much for the #3. Shortly after the green flag was dropped, Kade pulled into the infield due to a flat tire, ending his night.

Weekend racing update!

Saturday our crew returned to Greenbush. Kade drew a 50 putting him 4th in the heat. The track was very dry and within a lap or two the visibility was close to none. Kade finished where he started.

For the feature, Kade started 6th. During intermission the track was farmed and watered. Within the first few laps Kade gained two positions and a caution flag was thrown. This gave him the opportunity he needed and on the restart he jumped to second. He was heavy on the 1st place cars tail, though after a couple laps on corner 4 Kade hit a slick part of the track sending him higher on the front stretch causing him to hit the front stretch wall and riding the rails! With Kade still heavy on the gas, he lost no momentum and continued on in second place! Though unfortunately after another caution flag Kade suffered a slow leak in his right front tire which ended up going flat. We believe it’s due to the impact from earlier in the race on a restart from contact with another car in corner 3 coming to the green flag. This led to a DNF for the feature. Not how we wanted to end the night but after extensive checking of the car, the only damage that was left was a warped rim and a cut tire. We’re grateful that there was no other damage.

Congratulations to Hunter Westcott on his feature win!

Sunday at Bemidji Speedway started with a 59 pill draw, placing him 5th in the heat. The track, for the most part, was a one lane show making it difficult for passing. After a few laps Kade managed to gain one position and on white flag (final) lap, he managed to gain one more, locking in 3rd place.

For the feature, the redraw wasn’t in our favor and Kade started 8th. In the first corner Kade was pushed up high and fell back a couple positions though after some laps and a caution flag, he worked his way to 6th. With few laps to go, he made some moves and eventually secured 4th.
