Welcome Back Plainsmen!
(view Renderings of Future Facilities)

By Chad Straight
Belle Plaine Superintendent

Welcome back to a new Belle Plaine Community School Year—a place where tradition, community, and a commitment to our students come together to build a strong future.

As we look ahead, we are excited to share a glimpse of the future facilities and improvements that will enhance the educational experience for Belle Plaine students and families. These projects represent more than new buildings and updated space. They represent an investment in our students, our staff, and the future of our community.

Building for the Future

We are proud to highlight three exciting future facility improvements: a new high school gymnasium, an expanded high school weight room, and a new elementary cafeteria.

A New High School Gym

The new high school gym will provide a modern, flexible space for athletics, activities, school events, and community gatherings. With improved seating, accessibility, lighting, sound, and overall functionality, the gym will create a better experience for students, athletes, families, and fans.
Beyond competition, the new gym will serve as a gathering place for our school community, a place where students can compete, perform, celebrate, and create memories.

A New High School Weight Room

The new high school weight room will provide students and student-athletes with a larger, more modern space designed to support strength, conditioning, wellness, and personal growth.
Expanded space and updated equipment will allow our programs to better support year-round training while promoting healthy habits that extend well beyond athletics. The goal is not simply to build stronger athletes, but to help students develop discipline, confidence, perseverance, and a lifelong commitment to health and wellness.

A New Elementary Cafeteria

At Longfellow Elementary, a new cafeteria will provide students with a brighter, more comfortable environment to eat, connect, and recharge during the school day.

The space will improve the lunch experience while also providing additional opportunities for students and staff to gather for presentations, celebrations, and special events. A welcoming cafeteria can play an important role in creating a positive school environment where students feel comfortable, connected, and ready to learn.

An Investment in Our Students

The renderings provided by OPN architects in this article offer a look at what these future spaces can become. They provide a vision for facilities that are designed with the needs of our students, staff, families, and community in mind.

We are grateful for the continued support of the Belle Plaine community as we work together to strengthen our schools and provide our students with the very best opportunities.

The boys went to Clarksville today to play 3 games against some tough competition!
They started off the day fearless and battled all the way back down 13 to beat Jesup 38-35! Couldn’t be more proud of this group for staying together in this one and finishing at the end.

Next they played North Fayette Valley and didn’t let up. Unfortunately a couple balls didn’t fall late for us and ended up losing by 47-42.

Our last team of the day was Denver a team that was at the Well in Des Moines a year ago. Once again the guys didn’t shy away from the competition. They played hard to the very end and lost this game 58-33.

So much good came from today! Very happy on how the boys kept battling against these 2A schools! We definitely got better today and things are starting to mesh together!
