Money saving and stamina boost tip:
I love cold brew, but it is not cheap if you get it at your fav coffee stop. I had lots of time to read over 3 months this year so I found a homemade cold brew recipe. Not only does it save someone at least $5 per day ($150/month), it is delicious, easy, and you have control over how it is NOT stirred! So cheap. So easy. So delicious. Lots less calories too! Now go burn the other calories on your bike with the extra afternoon boost you get from this:
1. Coursely grind a cup of good medium roast coffee bean.
2. Put those grounds in the bottom of a French press.
3. Pour 4 cups of filtered water over the grounds.
4. Stir well with a wooden spoon. I use a chopstick.
5. Put the lid on but don't push down.
6. Let sit for 18 to 24 hours. I do the full 24 hours.
7. When the time is up, push down the filter on the French press.
8. Fill your cup half full of the cold brew concentrate you just made.
9. Add ice
10. Fill the remainder of the cup with your choice of milk or cream product. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
11. Do NOT stir or shake. Just drink like this.
12. Put the remaining coffee concentrate in a thermos in the fridge. You have about 5 days to use it up.
13. Don't forget to make your next batch 24 hours before you run out.
14. Enjoy! It is a great afternoon pick me up, and you will still be awake for that evening after-work ride!
15. And now you have an extra $150 per month to spend on MTB stuff.
