Little League is teaching my son a lot of things that have nothing to do with baseball.
It’s teaching him how to be nervous and still step on the mound anyway.
It’s teaching him that sometimes you swing and miss… and the world doesn’t end. You just step back in the box and try again.
It’s teaching him how to listen to coaches, respect umpires, and shake hands with the other team even when the loss stings.
It’s teaching him patience while waiting his turn in the lineup.
It’s teaching him that the loudest cheers usually come from the people who love you the most.
It’s teaching him how to work hard at something even when it’s hot, even when he’s tired, even when practice runs long.
But the biggest thing I see it teaching him?
Confidence.
The kind that grows slowly.
The kind that shows up when he looks over at the stands and says, “Watch me pitch.”
Little League isn’t just building ballplayers.
It’s building boys who learn how to try, fail, get back up, and keep going.
And as a mom sitting in the bleachers…
I know those lessons will matter long after the last inning is played.
