Dry Dropper rigs are one of my favorite fly setups. Especially when you’re not entirely sure what the trout are hitting. I like to use an extremely buoyant dryfly; like a Chubby Chernobyl, Elk Hair Caddis, Royal Flush, or Parachute Adams; with your favorite nymph on bottom. These rigs are best when you see a specific fly coming off, but only a few trout hitting the surface. Resulting in trout hitting the nymphal and dry stages of that fly. Then, i match my dryfly with the fly coming off, and use the nymphal stage of that fly underneath.
