Yesterday, the local swimming community learned the news of the abrupt cancellation of the Lynchburg YMCA swim team for the summer and termination of several coaches. While we are competitors in the pool, we are a very tight knit community who all have the common goal of providing a great, lifelong sport to hundreds of kids. Our heart goes out to all the families who are impacted by this news, and especially to the kids who formed such a special bond with their coaches over the years.

The LY swim team offers a level of competition that is needed in our community and I hope the correct decisions are made going forward to keep the team going.

Thank you to all the families who have built such a great swimming community over many years.

Tonight at our banquet, Coach S.J. presented each swimmer with their ribbons, medals, top times, and their Barracuda that’s been collecting stars all season.

We’ll see you in May to kick off our summer season!
