To make it to state in junior high track in Ohio is no easy task. There are only two divisions, which means today Luke and Hadley weren’t just competing against local athletes — they faced athletes from the east side of Cleveland all the way down the river to Cincinnati. Some of the biggest schools in the state are in their division, so just qualifying for state is already an incredible accomplishment.

Hadley placed 9th in Division B in the entire state of Ohio. How awesome is that?! That girl has such a bright future ahead of her, and there’s no doubt she’ll be jumping even farther next year. That girl has a lot of heart! She’s going to leave her mark on high school track no matter what event she chooses to compete in.

And then there’s Luke… who didn’t just compete in one event today, but TWO at the state meet. That alone is huge. This boy amazes us with his pure determination! He ran his 400 right around his school record time and finished 8th in the state in Division B, earning himself a spot on the podium! He also ran an incredible 200 and finished 13th in the state in Division B.

We are so excited to see what both of these athletes accomplish next year because the future is incredibly bright for them. And who knows… maybe we’ll see these two at state meet next year as freshmen!!

Last Tuesday, Luke Allen and Hadley Wallace competed at the Pike Invitational, and both brought home High Point Medalist honors for the boys and girls divisions. They both had an incredible night with amazing performances against tough competition.

Hadley broke the meet record in long jump with a jump of 16’ 1.75”.

Yesterday they competed in the Best of the Southeast and East Middle School Invitational meet in Wellston against some of the top athletes around. Luke’s times officially qualified him for the state meet in both the 200m and 400m, while Hadley qualified for the state meet in long jump.

We are beyond proud of these two and all the dedication, work, and heart they’ve put in this season. Good luck this coming Saturday in the junior high state meet— go compete, have fun, and represent Eastern proudly! 🦅

Super proud of this team and everything they accomplished this season. Watching the growth, confidence, friendships, and hard work from these athletes has been something special. We hate to see the season come to an end, especially with our 8th graders moving on, but we are excited to see what the future holds for every one of these kids. Eastern Track has a bright future ahead

Had a busy last couple of days, but I’ll be making posts over the next two days highlighting some of our athletes’ amazing accomplishments once I can sit down and go through all the numbers.

We hate to see the season come to an end because this group has been so much fun to coach and watch grow. I am beyond proud of these kids and the hard work they put in all season long. This team showed so much growth, determination, and heart every single meet.

To our 8th graders — we are so excited to see all you accomplish over the next four years. Keep working hard, keep pushing yourselves, and never stop believing in what you’re capable of. You all have such bright futures ahead of you, and we can’t wait to watch you soar.

To our 7th graders — be ready to put in the work next season because we have no doubt this group is capable of big things. Keep building, keep improving, and keep competing. The future of Eastern track is very bright.

Also, a huge thank you to Betty Wheeler-Tomlison for purchasing and donating a set of blocks and some batons to our junior high team. I meant to make a post last week, but things got busy and it slipped my mind. We truly appreciate your support of our program and our athletes. Your generosity means so much to these kids and helps continue building something special here at Eastern.

Very cold and windy night at the Belair’s Bistro 1952 State Champions JH State Elite Qualifier, but that didn’t stop these two from showing up and competing tough

Luke Allen
Placed 2nd in the 100m and came back to take 1st in both the 200m and 400m. His 200 was one of his best races of the season in my opinion…he dug deep, stayed patient, and chased down the lead right at the line. An absolute fight to the finish and an exciting race to watch

Hadley Wallace
Placed 2nd in long jump, 4th in the 200m (just seconds off the school record), and 5th in the 400m. Competing in multiple events and still putting up strong finishes.

The conditions were no joke—every time they hit the turn, that wind was right in their face. You know without it, those times and jumps would’ve been even better.

Super proud of both of them for pushing through and competing the way they did.

Excited to see our Jr High Eagles in action Monday at Minford. 🧡🤍🤎🦅

I completely forgot to make this post the other day, but I want to make sure the people who helped us get recognized!

A huge thank you to Emma’s Frosty Kreme for donating 2 pizzas and to Tonya Lykins for donating a pizza — it helped Coach Barnett out so much feeding the team before we headed to South Point.

It was a late night last night, and I’m just now settling in and getting everything together—but wow, what a night it was! Facing tough competition from some of the best teams in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia, our kids showed up and competed.
