Outlaw Speedway Recap 6/12

We started P2 in Heat #1 on a very slick racing surface, and with our heat being first out for the night, we knew it was going to be a handful. A few laps in we slipped back to 3rd and found ourselves in a hard battle with Brett Crawford for the spot.

Unfortunately, racing got tight and Brett ended up cutting a right front down off our left rear, sending him hard into the front stretch wall. It was a scary one to see, especially when it’s someone like Brett — a guy who has helped our program so much over the years, whether it’s been advice, parts, or just lending a hand when we needed it. It was a racing deal, but that doesn’t make it any easier to watch. We’re thankful Brett is okay, and we hate seeing good people tear up equipment like that.

We ended up finishing P3 in the heat, which put us rolling off P2 for the feature.

On the drop of the green, we were able to hang with the pole sitter and take the lead going into turn 1. The car had a ton of speed, and honestly it was probably the best it has felt all season. The driver entered turn 3 a little too soft, created a push, and gave up some of that momentum. That one is on me I’ve got to get more comfortable carrying the corner speed this car is capable of now.

When the checkered flag waved, we came home with a season-best P4 finish.

We’re definitely making progress. The car is coming around, the speed is there, and now we just need to keep fine-tuning both the setup and the driver. Huge thank you to everyone who helps keep this program going our crew, sponsors, family, and supporters. We’ll keep digging.

Friday June 5th Outlaw Speedway Recap

Apologies for the delayed post
it’s been a busy day between washing the car, working in the vinyl shop, and ending the night helping at an FD fundraiser.

We started the night on a heavy track for hot laps, something we really haven’t seen in quite a while. We made a few tweaks heading into the heat race, rolled off P3, and settled for P5 at the line, putting us into the handicap for the feature.

For the feature, we rolled off P2. On the start, we ran door-to-door with the leader entering Turn 1. The car was actually pretty decent and balanced running in P2 until just over halfway, when Mean Gene Sharpsteen was able to squeeze by. We held onto third until Lap 16 when a failed slide job from another competitor absolutely rocked the car and knocked everything out of whack. Luckily, a few laps later the caution came out and bunched the field back up.

Unfortunately, after driving the tires so hard battling in the top three and searching for speed, they sealed over and we just didn’t have enough left to move any farther forward. We ended up settling for P5 at the line, with the temperature gauge climbing rapidly from the heavy track conditions.

All in all, it was an okay night at the track. We definitely found some things for the notebook and have a much better idea of what we need to change to be better in those heavy track conditions. Crew Chief Caleb, Dad, and I were absolutely laser focused Friday night making sure everything in our pit stall ran smooth and efficient.

Outlaw Speedway Recap – 5/29

We unloaded with some speed and ended up P3 in Hot Laps.

With the handicap, we rolled off P2 in the Heat Race and brought home a P3 finish, which lined us up P2 for the Feature.

Unfortunately, the feature gremlins showed up again. For whatever reason, the car didn't respond the same way it did in the heat race and we went the wrong direction as the feature went on. We slipped back to P5 and spent the remainder of the 20 laps trying to find something that just wasn't there.

Sometimes racing is like that. We keep making changes, working through the car, and chasing speed, but we haven't quite put all the pieces together yet. One thing I do know is it isn't from a lack of effort, maintenance, or garage time. This team continues to put in the work every single week.

We'll regroup, go through everything, and be back next Friday ready to take another swing at it.

This Friday night at Outlaw Speedway we get the chance to race for something bigger than trophies.

EMS, Firefighter, Police & Military Night is always one that means a little more to our team. As many of you know, outside the race car I’m also a Volunteer Firefighter & EMT, so this night hits close to home.

To everyone that answers the calls at 3AM, misses holidays, works long shifts, or puts themselves in harms way for complete strangers… THANK YOU 🇺🇸🚑🚒👮

Outlaw Speedway Recap

P4 ➡️ P3 in the Heat
P5 ➡️ P6 in the Feature

Overall a decent night for the 25J. The competition level right now is tough week in and week out, with the top 8 cars all running very similar lap times. Passing was definitely at a premium all night long.

The track conditions made things interesting with one end dry slick and the other heavy and rough, so it kept everyone chasing balance all night. We learned a few things, made some notes, and we’ll keep digging to find a little more speed heading into next week.

Also a huge shoutout to Brett Crawford and Crawford Racing on picking up the Feature win tonight. Brett was a big part of helping our team become competitive early on in the Street Stock division and it’s awesome to see him finally put one together at Outlaw. Congratulations buddy, you definitely earned it!

Outlaw Speedway Recap – 5/15/26

We unloaded Friday night and started the night off strong, hot lapping P2.

For the heat, handicapping started unreasonably early, but we rolled off P3 in Heat #2. We made some changes during the week searching for more speed, but ended up with the car a little too tight on entry. After 8 laps, we settled for P4.

For the feature, we rolled off P8 and got moving right away, but a lap one caution wiped out the progress and reset the field. From there, we battled hard for 6th for about 10 laps before finally taking the spot with a few to go.

Once we found some clean air and a good line, the car started picking up speed, but it was just a little too late. We crossed the line P6 on a track that had plenty of character — and where it felt like everyone was a rocket ship.

We’re already back in the shop searching for the anchor that’s keeping us out of that top 4 battle like we were in at the start of the season. We might be tired, but we won’t give up, and we won’t quit searching.
