Worked on this one a little through the week and finished it today. Still have to put the final edge on but finished the scales and parkerizing today. Deceit in 1/8” 1095 steel. Scales are stabilized spalted pecan wood sanded to 1000 grit and buffed on the cotton wheel.

Working on another batch that I had cut this week. Did a little change to the butt end of the Deceit making it more like a traditional style drop point. I like it quite a bit over the rounded ones in the past. I haven’t made any of these in a while. They are another dual purpose blade from my designs. It is a good EDC knife or skinner to toss in with your hunting gear. Size wise it is right about 3/4 of an inch longer overall than the Stinger. The blade length is right at 3.1” and the profile is a bit thinner spine to belly than the Stinger. The Stinger is more of a chunky Thiccc boy where the Deceit is more sleek and pointy 😆. This batch is done in 1/8” 1095 steel and will be various scale sets depending what I have or if someone wants something specific. I may even do a couple in my hybrid wood/resin block I’ve been hanging onto. Got some Slayer going in the headphones tonight….i don’t know what’s harder on my ears Slayer or skipping the ear pro and hearing the grinder going like hell 🤘🏼😁

Picked up this little gem yesterday and my chainsaw files fit right in. This saves me a ton of time doing my notches and sharpening choil which are very time consuming when doing batches.

Got all the holes laid out and drilled tonight. Hopefully I’ll get the notches mostly done over the next couple nights and get them heat treated. Then I’ll start picking out scale colors. If anyone wants anything let me know. This batch is three cleavers, three stinger EDC’s and two of the skinners. I have another batch being plasma cut this week and probably another bigger batch getting cut next week sometime. Listening to some Post tonight.

Some behind the scenes pics of finishing up some long standing projects I’ve wanted to wrap up….I made Tiffany and Sharp Barbie back last spring. They’ve been sitting on the bench taped up waiting on sheaths so that got done today. Also finished one my step brother in Virginia ordered when I was there in spring here’s some of the process for getting the handles shaped and finished. Also getting some cut screws into the spacers with a dab of loctite and final fitment check before getting it all together.

Got some work done again finally. Its been a while. Also got my camera back out and setup after my old computer died with all my editing software. Software all back on I was able to find my revised logos again after searching through sent emails. I've had too many other projects going on most of the summer but I'm ready to get back at it. My next thing I will be looking for is I will be losing my current blank cutting service though so I'm looking for somewhere local that either does CNC plasma cutting or waterjet cutting in small amounts if anyone knows of anywhere. Other than that I will say books are now back open for now if anyone is looking to get anything made for the upcoming hunting and holiday season.

This is what it takes to parkerize steel at home…sandblast and degrease your pieces. Heat the solution up to 200 degrees in a stainless tank. Place the parts in for 20 minutes. Once out soak with oil and rub it with some steel wool and you’re done.

Think I got my heat treat dialed in for the high carbon stuff. The grain is so smooth and creamy looking which is what you want. It looks a bit weird since it took a bunch of hammer blows to get it to break in the vise but it’s about as close to perfect as i can get it. Give it a couple temper cycles at 425 and should be around 59-61 hrc give or take according to the time formula.
