The Kennebec Sturgeons 2026 season has officially come to a close.
This year was a milestone for our program — a franchise‑best 12 wins and a 4th‑place finish out of 18 teams in the Pine Tree League playoff field. The strides we made both on and off the field were the direct result of the people who surround this team.

Thank you to every team in the Pine Tree League for the competition all season long.
Thank you to Jessica Opperman for serving as our team photographer and baserunning coordinator — your talent and commitment elevated us every week.

Thank you to Jonah Smith and Tristian Andrew for delivering professional, in‑depth play‑by‑play all season. The Sturgeon Radio Network produced so many iconic calls because of your work.
Thank you to Jason Ritchie of State Farm — your generous support helped us partner with Bath Middle School to secure much‑needed equipment for Varnum Field.

Thank you to the Bath Recreation Department for keeping Varnum in great shape from Opening Day through the playoffs.

Thank you to the wives, children, grandparents, girlfriends, friends and families who make up the Sturgeon community. Summer in Maine is a special time, and we’re grateful for the sacrifices you make so we can play the game we love.

The Kennebec Sturgeons are proud to announce their representatives for the 2026 Pine Tree League All‑Star Game, hosted at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine on Sunday, September 13th at 10:00 AM.

Rookie sensation Jordan Douglas earned his spot after a breakout season, posting a .351 on‑base percentage, scoring a team‑high 17 runs, and leading the league with 20 stolen bases. Douglas proved his versatility by stepping into multiple roles before settling in as the club’s everyday second baseman. His athleticism and adaptability make him one of the most exciting young players in the league. Sturgeon fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for his second season.

Chris Brady earned his first All‑Star bid after another standout season patrolling center field for the Sturgeons. Brady posted a .393 on‑base percentage, led the team with 17 hits, and swiped 19 bases, ranking second in the league. His defensive play remained elite, robbing would‑be hitters all season, including a jaw‑dropping home‑run theft where he kept his balance while surfing the outfield fence. Brady also added another outfield assist, bringing his career total to four. Brady’s combination of speed, instincts, and fearless defense continues to make him one of the most electrifying players in the Pine Tree League.

Tyler Rose is a first‑time All‑Star after delivering another strong season on the mound, and doing so in a brand‑new role. After managing the Sturgeons for the previous five seasons, Rose entered 2026 as a player only, allowing him to fully focus on his craft. The results showed immediately.
Rose earned a career‑high 6 wins, finishing second in the league, and logged 59 innings, the third‑most in the Pine Tree League. He closed the season with a 3.66 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP, anchoring the Sturgeons’ rotation with consistency, competitiveness, and veteran poise.
Rose’s transition from manager to full‑time pitcher proved to be a major success, and his first All‑Star selection is a testament to the work he put in.

Wade Hunt earns his second consecutive Pine Tree League All‑Star selection after another season of elite two‑way impact and leadership for the Sturgeons. Hunt hit .300, launched 2 home runs, posted an on‑base percentage over .400, and led the league with 17 RBI, cementing himself as one of the most dangerous hitters in the Pine Tree League. Primarily the Sturgeons’ starting catcher, Hunt also showcased his versatility with appearances at shortstop, third base, and even on the mound. His conditioning and toughness are unmatched, often catching both ends of a doubleheader and still delivering multi‑hit performances at the plate. Beyond the numbers, Hunt is a natural leader and a vital presence in the Sturgeons clubhouse, setting the tone for the team on and off the field.

Wade Hunt Puts On Strong Contact Performance As Kennebec Sturgeons Take The Win Over Mid-Maine River Pigs

Wade Hunt collected three hits in four at bats, as Kennebec Sturgeons defeated Mid-Maine River Pigs 11-7 on Saturday at Edward J McMann Outdoor Athletic Complex. Hunt doubled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Mid-Maine River Pigs were the first to get on the board in the first when Drew Stanley doubled, scoring one run.

A double by Hunt gave Kennebec Sturgeons the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first.

Kennebec Sturgeons added one run in the second after Aaron Barrett walked.

Mid-Maine River Pigs tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a fielder's choice by Brian Bellows, and a single by Dakota Marshall.

Kennebec Sturgeons took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Barrett doubled, scoring one run, to give Kennebec Sturgeons the lead, 4-3.

Evan Touchette grounded into a fielder's choice, which helped Mid-Maine River Pigs tie the game at four in the top of the fifth.

Kennebec Sturgeons jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Brenton Cahill singled down the right field line, Jordan Douglas singled down the left field line, Zack Lavoie doubled down the left field line, and Tyler Rose singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Rose earned the win for Kennebec Sturgeons. The reliever allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Bellows took the loss for Mid-Maine River Pigs. The pitcher went four innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one. Logan Sheridan led things off on the mound for Kennebec Sturgeons. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out four and walking seven. Stanley led things off on the hill for Mid-Maine River Pigs. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and five runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking seven.

Kennebec Sturgeons collected 14 hits in the game. Cahill provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Kennebec Sturgeons with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Lavoie, Rose, and Douglas each collected multiple hits for Kennebec Sturgeons. Sheridan led Kennebec Sturgeons with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Douglas stole three bases. Kennebec Sturgeons ran wild on the base paths, accumulating four stolen bases for the game. Kennebec Sturgeons were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hunt made the most plays with eight.

Mid-Maine River Pigs accumulated nine hits in the game. Marshall and Stanley were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Mid-Maine River Pigs. Nick Booth provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Mid-Maine River Pigs with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-5 on the day. Mark Beckim paced Mid-Maine River Pigs with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Mid-Maine River Pigs turned one double play in the game.

Congratulations to the 2026 Sturgeons League Leaders

Wade Hunt capped his sixth season with the Sturgeons by leading the league in RBI with 17. The 2025 Coastal Division All‑Star hit .306 with 2 HR and a .407 OBP, all while continuing to be a brick wall behind the plate for the club.

Tyler Rose completed his sixth season with the Sturgeons—and his first as a full‑time player after spending his first five Pine Tree League seasons as a player/manager. Tyler finished third in the league with 59 innings pitched, second in wins with 6, and posted team bests with a 2.66 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

Jordan Douglas wrapped up his rookie campaign by leading the league with 20 stolen bases. His versatility across multiple positions ultimately landed him at second base, where his speed and anticipation made him an excellent defender. Jordan also hit .288 and scored 16 runs.

Chris Brady turned in another strong all‑around season. A dynamic center fielder with a knack for big plays, Brady has become a favorite of the Sturgeons pitching staff thanks to his ability to record outs beyond a typical center fielder’s range. He hit .309, scored 13 runs, drove in 11, and finished second in the league with 19 stolen bases. Brady’s fourth year with the club may be his best yet.

Kennebec Sturgeons Beat Lincoln County Cardinals

Kennebec Sturgeons were triumphant over Lincoln County Cardinals 4-2, in game 2 of a doubleheader, on Sunday at Varnum Field.

Kennebec Sturgeons opened the scoring in the second after an error scored one run.

Lincoln County Cardinals took the lead in the bottom of the third. Elias Atkins doubled, scoring two runs, to give Lincoln County Cardinals the leg up, 2-1.

Brenton Cahill singled to the right side of the infield, which helped Kennebec Sturgeons tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.

Kennebec Sturgeons took the lead, 4-2, in the top of the fifth thanks to doubles by Aaron Barrett, and Chris Brady.

Logan Sheridan earned the win for Kennebec Sturgeons. The pitcher allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking six. Jim Davis took the loss for Lincoln County Cardinals. The pitcher went four innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking five.

Barrett, Cahill, and Brady each drove in one run for Kennebec Sturgeons. Cahill went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Kennebec Sturgeons in hits. Zack Lavoie led Kennebec Sturgeons with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Kennebec Sturgeons ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Kennebec Sturgeons turned one double play in the game.

Atkins drove the middle of the lineup, leading Lincoln County Cardinals with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Tyler Bailey, Gabe Morrison, Jackson Murray, Joshua Doughty, Atkins, and Davis each collected one hit for Lincoln County Cardinals. Doughty led Lincoln County Cardinals with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Bailey stole two bases. Lincoln County Cardinals stole four bases in the game.
