Please welcome Coach Elders and Nicole if you see them around Baird! Coach Elders will be coaching football, basketball and an additional spring sport. We are excited to have Coach Elders and his wife joining the Bear family!

Get to know Coach Elders:

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Nicole, for 22 years now! She is a registered nurse of 20+ years, currently with Hendrick Medical Center. Our daughter, Hailey, and husband, Eric Abbe, have a sweet little girl, almost age 4, and are expecting a boy this summer. We greatly enjoy being grandparents. Our son, Cole, is a sophmore at McMurry University and is an accomplished musician.

I have been coaching for approximately 20 years. My early coaching was in youth sports for both boys and girls. Softball, volleyball, baseball, and basketball kept us very busy.

I still remember the first year I had both of their basketball teams. The boy would play first, being younger, and my daughter would sit on the bench cheering as loud as she could. And conversely, my son would do the same during his sister's game. I honestly don't know which one was louder.

I still love to compete, so I play competitive disc golf. In 2025, at the national tournament, I placed 2nd in the long drive, throwing 528 ft.

I am most excited about serving as teacher and coach in a small school where it is possible to know everyone. I am a 2001 graduate of Clyde High School. The Callahan County values demonstrated by Baird Bears athletes in our brief time together feels like a great fit. I look forward to participating in the growth of the youth of Baird in academics, life skills, and sports.

Please welcome “Doc” if you see her around! We are very fortunate to have a full time athletic trainer and she will be spending some of her day as the elementary PE coach.

Get to know Doc:

I grew up in Jayton, TX and graduated from Jayton High School in 2016. I then attended Abilene Christian University for 6 years. During that time I met my husband, Ian Staub. We've been married for a little over 3 years; but we've been together for almost 10 years. We have a beautiful little girl together, Evelyn, who is 3.

I obtained my Masters of Athletic Training from Abilene Christian in May of 2022, and have been a Licensed and Certified Athletic Trainer for 4 years.

I don't know that I have a favorite memory yet, but I definitely cherish being remembered and trusted by my first group of Baird football players my second year of covering football for the school. Realizing that I made enough of an impact on those kids for them to remember me a whole year later, meant a lot.

A fun fact about me is I can recite the alphabet backwards, and I can often remember number sequences better than most names.

I am looking forward to getting to build stronger bonds with my athletes and being able to be present every step of the way, should an injury occur. I always pray for no injuries, but being able to fully progress an athlete from injury to return-to-play is the best feeling.

Baird Youth Sports Camp

May 26th-May 28th

Check-in for Baird All-Sports Camp will be Tuesday morning at 8:00am at the High School Weight Room (located near the home entrance to the football field)

Please note, we are still taking late registrations AND you can still sign-up Tuesday morning if you have not yet registered!

Late registration are NOT Guaranteed a Camp shirt!!!

Cost is $30 to attend (please do not let this be a reason for kids to not attend)

Right now we have 40 Bears/Lady Bears registered for the fun!!

A huge THANK YOU to the voice of the Baird Bears, Terry McCutchen, for stepping onto the field today as our honorary pitcher for the final BYSO All Abilitee Ball game of the season! ⚾️❤️
Terry spends countless hours supporting Baird athletes from behind the microphone, so it was pretty special getting to see him out on the field with our athletes tonight. The smiles, laughs, high fives, and memories made were something our players will never forget!
Thank you for always supporting ALL of our kids and helping make our last game of the season extra special. Baird is lucky to have you!

Parent and Athletes:

Don’t forget, Resource Care will be on campus tomorrow from 1PM to 4PM for athletic and Band physicals.

These are $25 each and no worrying if the doctor has an open appointment in the summer!

You will need the front page of the medical history form filled out and signed in order for doctor to complete the physical!
