💎 Westside Diamonds 11U TEAL is excited to announce our Head Coach, Jake Hockenbury! 💎

Coach Jake brings a unique combination of high-level athletic experience, leadership, and a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the field.

🥎 About Coach Jake
• Proud father of four daughters
• Owner of Performex Martial Arts & Fitness
• Former MMA fighter and UWW Team USA Grappling member
• 16 years of coaching experience across multiple sports
• Focused on skill development, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and character building
• Experienced professional in engineered systems sales within the fire and security industry

Coach Jake’s competitive background and coaching philosophy center around helping athletes reach their full potential while creating a positive, hardworking team culture.

Outside of coaching, you’ll find him cheering for the Michigan Wolverines, creating Clark Griswold-level Christmas light displays 🎄, spending time with his family, playing softball with his daughters, or fishing 🎣 whenever he gets the chance.

This weekend will be a special weekend in store for our Diamond girlies. The Diamonds are hitting the road to Chicago for the “Queen of the Diamonds” tournament. Friday, we are taking a party bus to catch a Chicago Cubs baseball game for some pre tournament fun! Catch us live on GC Saturday with bracket play on Sunday! Let’s go kick butt but more importantly, let’s go have some FUN! 💎💜

This weekend didn’t start the way we wanted.

The Westside Diamonds came out a little flat and definitely weren’t playing our best softball. The energy wasn’t where it needed to be, and we knew we had work to do.

But that’s what makes this group special.

When Sunday arrived, these girls showed up ready to battle. They fought their way through bracket play against some very talented teams, showing grit, determination, and a refusal to quit. One game at a time, they kept pushing forward until they earned a spot in the Championship Game.

While we fell just short and brought home 2nd place, the result doesn’t tell the whole story.

What we’re most proud of is the response. After the way the weekend started, these girls dug deep, trusted each other, and went to work. They proved that adversity doesn’t define them—how they respond does.

The growth, heart, and fight this team showed on Sunday was something special.

Proud is an understatement.

Keep working. Keep believing. Keep shining.

There’s one thing this team and organization take pride in and that’s our transparency. Not every post needs to be about how awesome we are, how much winning we’ve done, and we can also post about the not great days.

Today was not our best day at the ballpark, and that’s okay. The energy wasn’t there, the bats were quiet, and things just didn’t go our way. Every team faces days like this. What matters is how you respond.

This team has been on a great run, and one tough day doesn’t define who we are. Heads up, learn from it, and get ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day, a new opportunity, and another chance to show who we are.

And we’ll be ready. 💎

New day. New opportunities. Let’s get back to work. 💎🥎
