AVON LAKE 11U MAROON CLOSES REGULAR SEASON, SETS SIGHTS ON INDEPENDENCE DAY AND CVBA TOURNAMENTS

The Shoremen closed out their regular season in dominant fashion last night, securing an 18-0 win. Currently, they sit atop the standings of the CVBA high division with a 13-7 league record (16-8 overall). However, a number of recent hard-fought one-run and extra-inning losses are expected to leave them a spot or two shy of the top seed once all league games are finalized. Still, the Maroon squad will be entering the CVBA playoffs as one of the top contenders, ready to square off against the best the league has to offer.

Before postseason play begins, the team will compete in the Independence Day Classic Tournament in Bay Village, starting with two games on Thursday, July 3rd. The field includes a mix of strong community and open teams, where the Shoremen are likely to run into some of the most talented lineup collections around. After a strong showing in last year’s tournament and continued growth in 2025, the team is looking forward to the challenge!

AVON LAKE GOES 3-1 ON THE WEEKEND, TAKES SILVER BRACKET CHAMPIONSHIP!

The hot bats continued for Avon Lake 11U Maroon, with a .485 team tournament average, including 12 extra base hits, outscoring their opponents 45-27.

Leading the weekend was Ben Zaborowski, who hit .727 w/ 3 extra base hits and 9 RBI’s, as Toby provided the pop, with 5 of his 6 hits going for extra bases, hitting .462 in the tournament.

The “Park Place Boys” —Quinn (.583, 2B), Sam (.545), and Griff (.500, 2B)—continued their clutch performances at the dish, while Conor (.444), Marshall (.444), Trevor (.429, 2 2Bs, 6 BBs), and Michael (.375) kept delivering big hit after big hit. The pitching staff was top notch as well, anchored by their ace Jack, allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run, notching a win, a save, and 9 strikeouts. Not even the fan base could be slowed down in the late hours of the Marriott lobby this weekend, as everyone from Avon Lake brought their A games.

A narrow one-run loss in pool play kept the Shoremen out of the gold bracket, but not from claiming the silver bracket crown, finishing 3-1 at the Salute to the Heroes tournament. On this Memorial Day weekend, the team proudly wore their red, white, and blue camo jerseys during Sunday’s doubleheader to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service. Land of the free, because of the brave!
