A few weeks ago I confessed that I love sniffing my husband’s armpits.

The internet responded with:

“WAIT. I DO THIS TOO.”

Naturally, I went down a research rabbit hole.

Apparently women rank smell as more important than men do when choosing a partner.

Apparently women use scent cues more than men.

And apparently women who are more satisfied with their partner’s scent also report higher relationship satisfaction.

So what I’m hearing is…

I’m not weird.

I’m conducting highly sophisticated relationship research. 🧐

Please tell me I’m not alone.

🫠 = you love your partner’s smell
🚩 = we’re all completely unhinged

STOP 🛑 trying to change your partner. You have no control over them (and truly, you don’t want control over them bc that’s not real intimacy. Trying to control people and things outside of you only creates a deeper sense of powerlessness, NOT power). Instead look at what you actually have agency over (hint: something inside of you), and adjust that instead. 💪🏽 PS. This post is NOT about tolerating genuinely harmful behavior, you can still remove yourself from dangerous situations, have healthy boundaries, and make requests for your needs to be met. But don’t become dependent on other people and things needing to change for you to feel safe and at ease inside yourself. ♥️

The best thing I ever did for my marriage Eminem 8 Mile myself, and confront all the things I felt most embarrassed and ashamed of (aka my disowned parts). I reclaimed the power that I had tied up in trying to suppress them, which I can now use to actually enjoy my life and marriage. ❤️‍🔥
