I am happy to say this week’s recount of Austin city Council, district 3 election ballots Provided no discrepancies.
As of this morning, a decision was made for the District 3 seat. It is an honor that I will be joining the board as an Austin City Councilor.
I am no stranger to holding this position and am ready to be back, serving the community in a greater capacity.
I look forward to the added commitment and work being done to re-energize Austin, alongside the other board members. Thank you once again to everyone who has supported me and trust I have the community’s best interest at heart.

I also want to thank my opponent and friend, James Shelton for caring about our city enough to take the leep into serving it through local politics. Even though we ran on different parties, neither of us let this campaign get in the way of our friendship and our conversations never resulted in negativity. I hope our actions leave a footprint for candidates and officials alike.

As most know, my opponent and I tied in the recent election for Austin City Council, District 3 seat.
In result, I have had many questions regarding the outcome for who will be appointed but little information to give.

It has always been my focus to keep the community informed on city affairs, regardless of my current position. I also feel it is important the information given is factual and relevant to its nature. This week I was given clear direction on how the county will proceed.

Kenny Hughbanks, the Scott County Republican Party chair, filed petition for a recount of all ballots cast in the November 7th election for Austin City Council, District 3.
In result, this coming Tuesday there will be a court ordered hand recount of those ballots to determine if there were any discrepancies in the count.
While I do not foresee this challenge showing defects, this will determine next steps for appointing the rightful councilor.
I want to thank everyone who has reached out with inquiry and to those with well wishes and support of my taking seat as your next District 3 council chair.

It is with confidence we will soon have an answer on this matter.
