Kakugo (θ¦šζ‚Ÿ) can mean readiness, resolve, or being mentally prepared for what lies ahead. βš”οΈπŸ”₯

And THAT is the mindset for Thursday.

The challenge is no longer somewhere far in the distance.

You can see it coming.

This is when preparation begins turning into readiness.

Know your assignment.

Trust your preparation.

Believe in the teammates beside you.

And mentally prepare yourself to answer when the moment arrives. 🐯πŸ”₯

Because when Saturday comes, there won't be time to wonder whether you're ready.

YOU HAVE TO ALREADY KNOW YOU ARE. πŸ’ͺ🏼

Thursday is about RESOLVE.

Being prepared for the challenge.

Being willing to embrace the pressure.

Being ready to finish what you started.

And we're getting VERY close to the moment we've been building toward.

That moment belongs to Saturday.

When Auburn steps underneath those lights in Atlanta, preparation ends and competition begins.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ–πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ GOOD MORNING AUBURN FAMILY & HAPPY NATIONAL BABY BACK RIBS DAY! β˜€οΈπŸ”₯πŸ–πŸ’™πŸ§‘

Rise and shine, Auburn Family! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday and is ready for another amazing day! Today, September 3, we’re celebrating National Baby Back Ribs Day and one of the most TENDER, SMOKY, SAUCY, and downright delicious foods you can throw on the grill or smoker! πŸ–πŸ”₯

Baby back ribs can be seasoned with a dry rub, smoked low and slow, grilled over charcoal, covered in barbecue sauce, or served with a little bit of EVERYTHING! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

But believe it or not, there’s more behind that rack of ribs than just smoke and barbecue sauce! πŸ‘€πŸ–

Before we FIRE UP a little history, let’s have an Auburn Family conversation! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ’¬ MORNING ENGAGEMENT QUESTION πŸ’¬

If YOU were sitting down to a giant rack of baby back ribs right now, how are you ordering them? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ…°οΈ Sweet & sticky BBQ sauce! 🍯
πŸ…±οΈ Spicy with some serious heat! 🌢️πŸ”₯
πŸ…² Dry rubbed & smoked! πŸ’¨πŸ–
πŸ…³ Smoky sauce with a little kick! πŸ”₯
πŸ…΄ ALL OF IT just bring me the whole rack! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ– A LITTLE BABY BACK RIBS HISTORY! πŸ–

National Baby Back Ribs Day is celebrated every September 3, and the holiday itself is actually fairly new!

In 2015, Romacorp, Inc., the parent company of Tony Roma’s, established National Baby Back Ribs Day as a way to celebrate one of barbecue’s most beloved cuts of pork.

But Tony Roma’s connection to ribs goes back MUCH further. The restaurant opened its first location in 1972 and became especially well known for its baby back ribs, helping turn the smoky, saucy barbecue favorite into a popular restaurant staple. πŸ–πŸ”₯

🐷 WHY ARE THEY CALLED β€œBABY BACK” RIBS? 🐷

Here’s something that can definitely cause some confusion: baby back ribs DO NOT come from baby pigs! πŸ˜‚

The word β€œbaby” simply refers to their smaller size. They’re shorter than spare ribs, which is where the name β€œbaby back” comes from.

So where exactly do they come from? πŸ‘€

Baby back ribs are cut from the upper portion of the pig’s rib cage near the backbone and underneath the loin muscle the same general area where pork chops are cut! πŸ₯©πŸ–

πŸ”₯ BABY BACK VS. SPARE RIBS! πŸ”₯

Walk into a barbecue restaurant and you might see both baby back ribs and spare ribs on the menu, but they aren’t exactly the same!

Because baby backs come from the loin area, they tend to be leaner, smaller, and naturally tender. Spare ribs come from farther down the rib cage toward the belly and are generally larger, flatter, and contain more fat.

That extra fat can create some INCREDIBLE flavor, while the smaller size of baby backs means they generally cook a little faster.

And a standard rack of baby back ribs typically contains around 11 to 13 bones, depending on how the butcher trims the rack.

πŸ–πŸ”₯ 11 TO 13 BONES OF SMOKY, BARBECUE GOODNESS! πŸ”₯πŸ–

That sounds like enough for one person, right Auburn Family? πŸ˜‚

🎢 β€œI WANT MY BABY BACK” 🎢

You KNOW we couldn’t talk about baby back ribs without mentioning THAT famous jingle! πŸ˜‚

During the late 1990s, Chili’s helped turn baby back ribs into a pop-culture phenomenon with its unforgettable advertising campaign featuring the famous β€œbaby back ribs” jingle.

Even people who had never eaten at Chili’s knew the tune! It became one of those advertising jingles that could get stuck in your head after hearing it just ONE time. πŸ˜‚πŸŽΆπŸ–

πŸ”₯ FIRING UP THE SMOKER? πŸ”₯

If National Baby Back Ribs Day has you thinking about putting a rack on the smoker today, there are a few simple tricks that can help make those ribs even better!

πŸ– REMOVE THE MEMBRANE!

There’s a thin, tough membrane on the bone side of a rack of ribs. Removing it before seasoning allows your rub to make better contact with the meat and keeps you from dealing with that chewy layer once the ribs are finished.

πŸ”₯ LOW AND SLOW!

Baby back ribs LOVE low-temperature cooking!

Keeping your smoker or grill around 225Β°F to 250Β°F with indirect heat gives the ribs plenty of time to become tender while soaking up all that delicious smoky flavor. πŸ’¨πŸ–

🍯 SAVE THE SAUCE FOR LATER!

Love those sticky, glossy barbecue ribs? Brush the sauce on toward the END of the cooking process!

Many barbecue sauces contain plenty of sugar, so adding them too early can cause that beautiful sauce to burn before your ribs are ready. πŸ”₯🍯

And Auburn Family, you KNOW we can turn National Baby Back Ribs Day into an Auburn barbecue! πŸ˜‚πŸˆ

Give us a giant rack of smoky ribs, baked beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, cornbread, sweet tea, and some Auburn football talk while the smoker is rolling, and now THAT sounds like a barbecue! πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ–πŸˆ

We might just have to call them.

πŸ”₯πŸ¦… WAR EAGLE RIBS! πŸ¦…πŸ”₯

So whether you like your baby backs sweet and sticky, spicy and smoky, covered in dry rub, glazed with barbecue sauce, or absolutely LOADED with flavor, today is the perfect excuse to fire up the grill, grab plenty of napkins, and tear into a rack! πŸ–πŸ”₯πŸ˜‚

Have a fantastic and blessed Thursday, Auburn Family! Stay safe, enjoy some delicious barbecue, and as always.

Rise and shine, Auburn Family! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday and is ready for another amazing day! Today, September 2, we’re celebrating National Grits for Breakfast Day and one of the most WARM, CREAMY, COMFORTING, and unmistakably Southern foods you can put on the breakfast table! πŸ₯£πŸŒ½

Grits are made from coarsely ground dried corn or hominy and can be served just about any way you can imagine.

Butter, cheese, bacon, sausage, eggs, gravy, shrimp you name it! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

But believe it or not, this Southern breakfast favorite has roots that stretch back centuries! πŸ‘€πŸŒ½

Before we GRIND through a little history, let’s have an Auburn Family conversation! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ’¬ MORNING ENGAGEMENT QUESTION πŸ’¬

If YOU were sitting down to a giant Southern breakfast right now, how are you fixing your grits? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ…°οΈ Butter & salt! 🧈
πŸ…±οΈ Loaded with cheese! πŸ§€
πŸ…² Bacon, sausage & eggs! πŸ₯“πŸ³
πŸ…³ Shrimp & grits! 🍀
πŸ…΄ ALL OF IT load that bowl up! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

🌽 A LITTLE GRITS HISTORY! 🌽

Long before grits became a staple of Southern breakfast tables, Native American communities were preparing dishes made from ground corn.

The Muskogee people prepared a ground-corn dish sometimes referred to as β€œrockahomine,” and Native peoples shared their knowledge of corn preparation with European settlers.

That means the story behind the bowl of grits on your breakfast table reaches back hundreds of years! 🀯πŸ₯£

Even the WORD β€œgrits” has an interesting history.

The name traces back to Old English words such as β€œgrytt,” referring to a coarse meal or grain.

🌽 WELCOME TO THE β€œGRITS BELT!” 🌽

If you grew up in the South, you probably already know just how serious people can be about their grits! πŸ˜‚

Grits became so deeply connected to Southern cooking that a large portion of the southeastern United States has earned the nickname.

πŸ₯£πŸŒ½ β€œTHE GRITS BELT!” 🌽πŸ₯£

The region stretches across much of the South, from Texas toward Washington, D.C., where grits remain especially popular.

And a couple of Southern states have taken their love for grits even further!

South Carolina declared grits its official state food in 1976.

Georgia followed by naming grits its official prepared food in 2002! 🌽πŸ”₯

πŸ₯£ NOT ALL GRITS ARE THE SAME! πŸ₯£

Walk down the grocery aisle and you’ll quickly discover there’s more than one way to make a bowl of grits!

🌽 Stone-ground grits are one of the most traditional varieties, keeping more of the corn kernel and delivering a hearty texture and flavor.

⏰ Regular and quick grits are processed to shorten the cooking time perfect when you want breakfast without waiting around all morning! πŸ˜‚

🌽 Hominy grits are made from corn treated through a process called nixtamalization, which gives them their own distinctive taste and texture.

But no matter which variety you choose, the REAL debate begins once you start adding the toppings! πŸ‘€πŸ˜‚

🍀 SHRIMP AND GRITS! 🍀

Of course, we can’t talk about grits without mentioning one of the South’s most famous dishes.

πŸ”₯ SHRIMP AND GRITS! πŸ”₯

With deep roots in the coastal South and Gullah Geechee culinary traditions, shrimp and grits began as a humble meal before eventually becoming a Southern restaurant favorite recognized across the country.

Tender shrimp, creamy grits, seasonings, butter, and sometimes bacon or sausage?

Auburn Family, you don’t have to ask us twice! πŸ˜‚πŸ€πŸ₯£

πŸ”₯ AND DON'T FORGET GRIT CAKES! πŸ”₯

Got leftover grits?

Don’t throw them away!

Cooked grits can be cooled until firm, sliced into cakes, and fried until they develop a crispy golden exterior while staying soft and creamy inside. πŸ˜‹πŸ”₯

And Auburn Family.

You KNOW we can turn National Grits for Breakfast Day into an Auburn breakfast! πŸ˜‚πŸˆ

Give us a giant bowl of cheesy grits, crispy bacon, sausage, biscuits, eggs, a hot cup of coffee, and some Auburn football talk to start the morning.

Now THAT sounds like a Southern breakfast! πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ₯£πŸˆ

We might just have to call them.

πŸ”₯πŸ¦… WAR EAGLE GRITS! πŸ¦…πŸ”₯

So whether you like your grits simple with butter and salt, absolutely COVERED in cheese, topped with bacon and eggs, served alongside sausage and biscuits, or underneath a giant helping of seasoned shrimp, today is the perfect excuse to grab yourself a hot bowl! πŸ₯£πŸŒ½

Have a fantastic and blessed Wednesday, Auburn Family! Stay safe, enjoy your breakfast, and as always.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ–πŸ”₯β˜€οΈ GOOD MORNING AUBURN FAMILY & HAPPY NATIONAL BURNT ENDS DAY! β˜€οΈπŸ”₯πŸ–πŸ’™πŸ§‘

Rise and shine, Auburn Family! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday and is ready for another amazing day! Today, September 1, we’re celebrating National Burnt Ends Day and one of the most SMOKY, CRISPY, CARAMELIZED, and downright delicious creations in barbecue! πŸ–πŸ”₯

Traditional burnt ends come from the fattier β€œpoint” of a beef brisket, where hours of low-and-slow smoking create an incredible combination of flavorful bark on the outside and juicy, tender meat on the inside.

And believe it or not, one of barbecue’s most coveted bites started out as humble brisket trimmings! πŸ‘€πŸ–

Before we SMOKE through a little history, let’s have an Auburn Family conversation! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ’¬ MORNING ENGAGEMENT QUESTION πŸ’¬

If YOU were sitting down to a giant barbecue feast right now, what are you grabbing FIRST? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ…°οΈ Burnt ends! πŸ–
πŸ…±οΈ Pulled pork! 🐷
πŸ…² Ribs! πŸ”₯
πŸ…³ Smoked brisket! πŸ₯©
πŸ…΄ ALL OF IT fill that plate up! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ– A LITTLE BURNT ENDS HISTORY! πŸ–

Burnt ends are closely tied to the legendary barbecue tradition of Kansas City, Missouri.

Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque is widely associated with their rise to fame. Crispy brisket trimmings were reportedly once given to customers while they waited for their meals.

That’s right!

Something barbecue lovers happily PAY for today was once handed out! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

In 1972, food writer Calvin Trillin helped bring national attention to Arthur Bryant’s legendary barbecue, and those once-humble brisket scraps eventually became a star attraction of their own.

πŸ”₯ WHY ARE THEY SO GOOD? πŸ”₯

The brisket point contains plenty of fat and connective tissue, making it perfect for long, slow smoking.

As it cooks, the fat renders, the meat becomes tender, and the outside develops that dark, smoky crust barbecue lovers call BARK!

Pitmasters often cube the meat, coat it in barbecue sauce, and return it to the smoker until the pieces become sticky, smoky, and caramelized.

The result?

πŸ”₯ Crispy outside!

πŸ– Tender and juicy inside!

πŸ’¨ Packed with smoky flavor!

There’s a reason people call burnt ends.

πŸ¬πŸ– β€œMEAT CANDY!” πŸ–πŸ¬

🐷 NOT JUST BRISKET ANYMORE! 🐷

Traditional burnt ends come from beef brisket, but today you can find all kinds of creative versions, including pork belly, chuck roast, and even hot dog burnt ends! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

πŸ“… NATIONAL BURNT ENDS DAY! πŸ“…

The celebration itself is pretty new!

The American Royal Association and Kansas City’s Zarda BBQ partnered to officially register National Burnt Ends Day in 2021, giving barbecue lovers another reason to fire up the smoker every September 1! πŸ–πŸ”₯

And Auburn Family.

You KNOW this would make one heck of a game-day meal! πŸ˜‚πŸˆ

Give us some burnt ends, mac and cheese, baked beans, cornbread, a cold drink, and Auburn football on the television.

Now THAT sounds like an Auburn Saturday! πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ–πŸˆ

We might just have to call them.

πŸ”₯ WAR EAGLE BURNT ENDS! πŸ”₯

So whether you’re visiting your favorite barbecue joint, firing up the smoker at home, or wishing somebody would deliver a giant plate to your front door right about now, grab some barbecue and celebrate National Burnt Ends Day! πŸ˜‚πŸ–πŸ”₯

Have a fantastic and blessed Tuesday, Auburn Family! Stay safe, enjoy your day, and as always.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ₯œπŸ₯Ύβ˜€οΈ GOOD MORNING AUBURN FAMILY & HAPPY NATIONAL TRAIL MIX DAY! β˜€οΈπŸ₯ΎπŸ₯œπŸ’™πŸ§‘

Rise and shine, Auburn Family! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday and is ready for another amazing day! Today, August 31, we’re celebrating National Trail Mix Day and one of the ULTIMATE grab-and-go snacks for hikers, campers, travelers, athletes, and anybody who needs a little extra fuel for the adventure ahead! πŸ₯œπŸ‡πŸ«πŸ₯Ύ

Trail mix might look like nothing more than a bag filled with nuts, raisins, dried fruit, seeds, granola, and maybe a few pieces of chocolate.

But this little snack has a surprisingly fascinating history! πŸ‘€

For generations, people have combined lightweight, energy-dense foods that could easily be carried on long journeys without needing refrigeration.

And depending on who you ask, there’s even some debate about where MODERN trail mix actually began!

Before we MIX together a little more history, let’s have an Auburn Family conversation! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ’¬ MORNING ENGAGEMENT QUESTION πŸ’¬

If YOU were building the perfect bag of trail mix right now, what absolutely HAS to be inside? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ…°οΈ Peanuts & mixed nuts! πŸ₯œ
πŸ…±οΈ Raisins & dried fruit! πŸ‡
πŸ…² Chocolate pieces! 🍫
πŸ…³ Granola & cereal! 🌾
πŸ…΄ ALL OF IT fill that bag up! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ₯œ A LITTLE TRAIL MIX HISTORY! πŸ₯œ

Believe it or not, there isn’t one universally agreed-upon inventor of trail mix!

Humans have been carrying combinations of dried, portable foods on long journeys for centuries.

Indigenous peoples in North America prepared highly portable foods using ingredients such as dried meat, fat, and sometimes dried berries. Foods like pemmican provided concentrated nutrition that could be carried over long distances.

But when it comes to something closer to the trail mix we recognize today, we can travel back more than 100 years! πŸ‘€πŸ₯Ύ

Renowned outdoorsman Horace Kephart recommended portable combinations that included foods such as nuts, raisins, and chocolate in his influential 1910 camping guide, The Book of Camping and Woodcraft.

That sounds A LOT like something you could grab off a grocery store shelf today! πŸ˜‚πŸ₯œπŸ«

πŸ“š TRAIL MIX EVEN MADE ITS WAY INTO LITERATURE! πŸ“š

In Jack Kerouac’s 1958 novel The Dharma Bums, raisins and peanuts are mentioned among provisions for a hiking adventure.

Then there’s another popular story involving California surfers! πŸ„β€β™‚οΈπŸŒŠ

According to one account, two California surfers helped popularize a mixture of peanuts and raisins around 1968 as an easy source of energy during long days on the water.

Whether hikers, campers, surfers, or travelers deserve the most credit, one thing is certain:

People figured out that combining small, lightweight foods could create one POWERFUL little snack! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ”₯

πŸ₯œ HAVE YOU EVER HEARD IT CALLED β€œGORP”? πŸ₯œ

Here in the United States, trail mix has long been associated with the nickname β€œGORP.”

You might have heard people say it stands for:

β€œGood Ol’ Raisins and Peanuts.”

Others have suggested combinations such as:

β€œGranola, Oats, Raisins, and Peanuts.”

But the exact origin of the nickname isn’t quite that simple, and the word β€œgorp” itself has an older history.

Either way, GORP became closely associated with the classic outdoor snack! πŸ˜‚πŸ₯œπŸ‡

🌎 TRAIL MIX AROUND THE WORLD! 🌎

Here’s where things get REALLY interesting!

America certainly isn’t the only place where people enjoy mixtures of nuts, dried fruits, chocolate, and other portable snacks.

Different countries have their own names and traditions!

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Australia & πŸ‡³πŸ‡Ώ New Zealand You may hear trail mix called β€œscroggin.”

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Germany A similar mixture is known as Studentenfutter, which translates roughly to β€œstudent feed” or β€œstudent fodder.”

πŸ‡©πŸ‡° Denmark Studenterhavre translates to β€œstudent oats.”

Apparently, whether you’re climbing a mountain or studying for an exam, everybody needs SNACK POWER! πŸ˜‚πŸ“šπŸ₯œ

⚑ WHY IS TRAIL MIX SUCH GREAT ADVENTURE FOOD?

There’s a reason trail mix has remained popular with hikers and outdoor adventurers.

It packs a LOT of energy into a relatively small amount of food!

Dried fruits provide carbohydrates that the body can use for quicker energy. πŸ‡

Nuts and seeds provide fats and protein that can help provide longer-lasting fuel. πŸ₯œπŸ’ͺ🏼

And because trail mix is lightweight, portable, and usually doesn’t require refrigeration, you can throw a bag into a backpack and keep moving!

That makes it perfect for:

πŸ₯Ύ Hiking!

πŸ•οΈ Camping!

🚴 Biking!

🎣 Fishing!

πŸ„ Surfing!

πŸš— Road trips!

🏈 Or sitting on the couch watching AUBURN FOOTBALL! πŸ˜‚πŸ§‘πŸ’™

But there IS a catch!

🍫 NOT EVERY TRAIL MIX IS CREATED EQUAL! 🍫

Traditional combinations featuring nuts, seeds, and dried fruit can pack plenty of nutrients into a small serving.

But some modern versions can also contain large amounts of candy, chocolate, sweetened fruit, or added sugars.

At that point, your healthy hiking snack might start looking suspiciously like DESSERT! πŸ˜‚πŸ«πŸ¬

Of course, that’s also part of what makes trail mix so much fun.

You can build it however YOU want!

Sweet.

Salty.

Crunchy.

Fruity.

Chocolatey.

Or EVERYTHING mixed together! πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯

And Auburn Family, I think we could make our own special game-day version!

Give us some peanuts, pretzels, dried fruit, chocolate candies in ORANGE AND BLUE, and maybe a little something sweet mixed in.

Throw it all into a giant bowl before kickoff.

And suddenly we’ve got ourselves some WAR EAGLE TRAIL MIX! πŸ˜‚πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ₯œπŸ¦…

Just make sure somebody brings enough to share!

So whether you’re heading out on an adventure, working around the house, spending time with family, or already counting down the days until another Auburn football Saturday, grab yourself a handful of your favorite mixture and celebrate National Trail Mix Day! πŸ₯œπŸ‡πŸ«

Have a fantastic and blessed Monday, Auburn Family! Stay safe, enjoy your day, and as always.

πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸŒŠπŸ–οΈβ˜€οΈ GOOD MORNING AUBURN FAMILY & HAPPY NATIONAL BEACH DAY! β˜€οΈπŸ–οΈπŸŒŠπŸ’™πŸ§‘

Rise and shine, Auburn Family! We hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday and is ready for another amazing day! Today, August 30, we’re celebrating National Beach Day and the beautiful shorelines, sandy beaches, crashing waves, and coastal wildlife that make a day beside the water so special! πŸŒŠπŸ–οΈβ˜€οΈ

National Beach Day is often considered one of summer’s final big celebrations before the seasons begin to change. It’s the perfect excuse to soak up some sunshine, put your feet in the sand, jump into the water, or simply sit back and listen to the waves. 😎🌊

But National Beach Day isn’t ONLY about having fun!

It also carries an important message about protecting our beaches, keeping our shorelines clean, and looking after the marine animals and birds that call these environments home. πŸ’πŸ¬β™»οΈ

Before we DIVE into a little more history, let’s have an Auburn Family conversation! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ’¬ MORNING ENGAGEMENT QUESTION πŸ’¬

If YOU could spend the entire day at the beach today, what are you doing first? πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

πŸ…°οΈ Jumping straight into the water! 🌊
πŸ…±οΈ Relaxing in a beach chair! 😎
πŸ…² Building a massive sandcastle! 🏰
πŸ…³ Walking the shoreline looking for shells! 🐚
πŸ…΄ Something else tell us your perfect beach day! πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

🌊 A LITTLE NATIONAL BEACH DAY HISTORY! 🌊

Believe it or not, the idea of celebrating a special day dedicated to beaches goes back nearly 100 years! πŸ‘€

An early version of a β€œBeach Day” was reportedly proposed in 1929 by the Milwaukee, Wisconsin branch of the Knights of Columbus for its convention. That celebration never developed into the annual national observance we know today.

The modern National Beach Day arrived decades later! πŸ–οΈ

In 2014, family lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige founded National Beach Day.

Having grown up along the Southern California coast, Paige wanted to create a day that celebrated the beauty and enjoyment of beaches while encouraging people to GIVE BACK to the environments that provide so many incredible memories. 🌊❀️

Her mission was especially focused on protecting marine animals and birds that can be injured or killed by plastic waste, abandoned fishing line, food containers, and other trash left behind by beachgoers.

And that brings us to one of the biggest messages behind today!

πŸ—‘οΈ LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND BUT FOOTPRINTS! πŸ‘£

National Beach Day encourages beachgoers to follow a simple rule:

If you bring it onto the beach, TAKE IT BACK WITH YOU! ♻️

That means chairs, umbrellas, toys, bottles, food wrappers, fishing equipment, and anything else you brought along for your day in the sun.

Community beach cleanups have also become an important part of the celebration, with volunteers collecting trash and debris from shorelines after another busy summer season. πŸ—‘οΈπŸŒŠ

Even picking up ONE piece of trash can make a difference because that’s one less piece that could eventually reach the water or harm an animal. πŸ’πŸ’™

πŸ–οΈ BEACH DAY ISN’T JUST ABOUT THE OCEAN! πŸ–οΈ

Here’s something else that makes National Beach Day pretty cool!

You don’t necessarily have to live near the Atlantic, Pacific, or Gulf Coast to participate.

Freshwater beaches, lakefronts, and sandy riverbanks can be celebrated too! 🌊

Whether it’s an enormous ocean beach or your favorite little spot beside a lake, the message remains the same:

ENJOY IT. RESPECT IT. PROTECT IT. πŸ™πŸΌπŸŒŽ

Of course, we can’t celebrate National Beach Day without enjoying everything that makes going to the beach so much fun!

Swimming! 🌊

Surfing! πŸ„

Fishing! 🎣

Beach volleyball! 🏐

Sandcastle building! 🏰

Searching for seashells! 🐚

Or doing absolutely NOTHING except sitting in a chair with your toes buried in the sand while listening to the waves! πŸ˜‚β˜€οΈ

Sometimes that last option sounds pretty hard to beat!

And Auburn Family, if we could somehow combine an Auburn football Saturday with a beautiful beach, some good food, an ice-cold drink, and WAR EAGLE playing while the sun goes down.

We might have ourselves the PERFECT DAY! πŸ˜‚πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸŒŠπŸ¦…

So whether you’re actually spending today beside the water, relaxing around the house, enjoying time with family, or already thinking about Auburn football, take a moment to appreciate the beautiful places around us.

And if you DO visit a beach, lake, or riverbank today, leave it a little cleaner than you found it! πŸŒŽβ™»οΈβ€οΈ

Have a fantastic and blessed Sunday, Auburn Family! Stay safe, enjoy your day, and as always.
