We invite kids from 6th-12th grades in the middle Georgia area to join up and learn more about this fun sport! Tom Glover, President of the Bicycling Club of Milledgeville, is pleased to announce the creation of a youth-focused bicycling organization for kids in the Baldwin County area. The new group, called the Old Capital Racing Youth Mountain Bike Team, is open to all students in grades 6-12.
“Our goal is to introduce kids to the joy of mountain biking and instill a life-long love of the sport,” says Glover. An alternate to traditional sports, mountain biking appeals to a wide variety of outdoor enthusiasts, not just athletes. “We hope to introduce youth in the community to mountain biking, not only as a sport but also as a way to enjoy the outdoors. It’s one of the few sports that you can compete in and enjoy for your entire life.”
Glover adds, “What makes this team unique is that there are no tryouts for spots or caps on team size. This is a way for students not only to participate in a fun, active sport, but also to learn good off-road riding habits, such as bicycling safety skills and trail preservation efforts. Most importantly, sharing the love of mountain biking with the students inspires a life-long relationship with physical fitness and environmental appreciation.”
