Our program has swimmers from all walks of life who support each other in the journey to improve their technique, conditioning, and overall wellness. There are basically three groups participating in the program:
1) Competitive swimmers who are training for masters swim meets.
2) Triathletes who have set their sights on improving their performance during the swim leg of the race.
3) Fitness swi
mmers aiming to improve their conditioning with a low impact sport that is basically the rehab sport for all other sports. The focus in our Masters Program is on technique and balanced conditioning. Better technique will help participants swim more efficiently, i.e. That makes swimming more fun and swimmers are conditioning their bodies at the same time. Better technique + better conditioning = faster times. By balanced conditioning we mean that we are not just working on free style - we try to incorporate other strokes so that we are using a wide range of muscle groups. This helps the body stay limber and strong, reducing the risk of injuries from other sports. We swim at West Gwinnet Park Aquatic Center. This facility also hosts the Gwinnett County High School Championship meet. Individuals who sign up for the program have free access to all Gwinnett County operated Aquatic centers during regular operating hours and have priority access should lines form in the summer.
