Made it home at 5pm EST. Thank you all for following along and taking the time to comment and like my pictures.

This officially wraps up Chapter 5 of the BBT, but it’s not The End; the book remains very open.

Plans for Chapter 6 will start soon... most likely Thailand or Vietnam in 2021.

Stopping here for the night, all is good.

This song came to mind...

Last Night of the Trip: This trip has been long, hot, cold, wet, and back to hot. Tomorrow I’ll be back in Woodstock, GA and reunited with my 2 1/2 dog wolf pack and my human family 🤣; I’m very ready.

People ask me all the time “why would you want to ride all that way on a bike, seems like torture”. To a degree (112 of them) it is, but that’s the point; testing your minerals.

The reflection points are mostly always the people you meet and spend just a few minutes with, but stick with you for many years. I still remember speaking with “toughy” a First Nation guy in Beaver Creek, YK in 2011.

After this trip I’ll add “Vienna”, a Chinese immigrant working in a Stewart, BC.

I’ll add “Jan” pronounced (yan) a young German guy who quit his lawyer job to tour all over the world (he’s pictured below). I spent about an hour with him on a ferry ride and we just hit it off.

I’ll add Taylor and Justice, two other young ladies working as waitresses to finish school and looking to take on big dreams.

I’ll add Michele, and older lady who is struggling to keep her business a float, in poor health, after losing her husband who was the handyman.

I’ll add the experience of a lifetime officiating my younger brothers wedding and meeting several people from several other countries, all while hanging out with some of my UK family and local US family... in California.

I’ll add witnessing the complete wildlife gambit of 🐋 🐻 🦌 🐐 🐏 🐿 🕷 🐺 🦅 🐬 and Salmon (no salmon emoji).

I’ll add visiting Portland and seeing where my sister now calls home.

I’ll add the laughing and adversity of riding with two other people for part of the journey.

Honestly, the list goes on and on and only when I’m home, will some of the smaller details pop back in to my mind.

Spending several weeks and 11,000 miles on a bike gives you a ton of time to think, about a lot of stuff; everything. Things you should say to people or not say to people. Things you’ve struggled with and can now be at peace with. A new game plan for work for the next couple of years. A new appreciation for the people closest to you, your family.

I’m now off to Logan’s Steakhouse, one of my favs for a Ribeye steak and a beers.

Cheers!

Jan is below; he was going hiking in BC without bear spray because $40 was too much to spend...I hope he’s still alive.
