Decatur Women's Sports League Womens Sports League In 2006, Anne, or Sarge as she is known, created a league dedicated to giving back to the community where she grew up.

The Atlanta-Decatur, Ga Women's Sports League is currently offering Recreational league play in the following sports:
Bowling, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Kickball, Badminton, and Soccer! The Founder of the Women's Sports League is Anne Barr who was asked by members of her church to create a FUN league for women all varied abilities and ages. By March 2007, with the wheels in motion, well o

ver 200 women signed up, warmed up & batted up, for the first softball pitch to be thrown! Friday nights are now a huge success for jock minded women. Ages range from 21 to at least 67. We hear tell the average age is 30 something. “YOU GO GIRLS”! Each year Anne adds news sports for the ladies to 'jock it up'! Softball is a huge success for sure, however, soccer is the newest edition to the bowling, basketball, volleyball and badminton seasons. Anne Barr, better known as “Sarge” is on her way to developing one of the largest recreational women’s sports league in the country. Year 2007 yielded over 600 players. By 2012, the league is well over 2000 participants! Each year, Sarge donates proceeds from the league to a chosen charity. The Atlanta Health Initiative, providing health services for LGBT community, has received over $10,000 in donations from the Decatur Women's Sports League. This sports league is for all women. After all, it is really just about the game...isn’t it?
