Almost 6 years ago I walked away from a successful and promising career. This move was almost unheard of at the time-- you didn't leave TV news at the top of your game by choice. Looking back, here are 5 lessons I learned from following my gut and starting a new chapter.
1. I could feel in my bones I outgrew the space I worked so hard to occupy. I had to be okay with letting the career I went to school for and could have taken "all the way" being over. Once I was at peace with that, I took my exit planning to another level.
2. Sometimes you need a coach to reflect back your truth. What you've heard from God. You will doubt yourself, but a good coach will help bring you back home.
3. Once I really OWNED the power that I'm a six-figure and beyond earner, I realized I could take that identity anywhere, not just on the news desk.
4. A few months before my end date I won a career changing award. I looked at it like a God wink. Well done, daughter.
5. My next chapter STARTED where I was. I starting coaching folks for free and producing my own podcast wellll before most news anchors came into the space. I didn't wait and it paid off.
