In January, I’ll be going into my 4th year of being a full time trainer. With regards to exercise, I’ve learned a lot about what motivates people, and what doesn’t motivate people. A trainer is a great resource to make your fitness journey more efficient, and more fun.
Five reasons to hire a trainer
1.) New to working out: If you’ve never exercised before, hiring a trainer is one of the best things you can do to make sure your time in the gym is maximized. They will help you execute exercises safely, and they’ll help you get familiar with being in a gym.
2.) Accountability: If you make an appointment, then pay someone for that appointment, you are more likely to show up. A trainer is a resource to help hold you accountable for showing up for yourself.
3.) One on one coaching: A one on one training sessions ensures you are the priority for that hour. All attention is focused on you and your goals.
4.) Tailored motivation: When you work with a trainer, you build a rapport with that person. They learn more about what motivates you and what doesn’t motivate you. We all have different ways we are motivated, and a trainer will find the best way to push you without being demanding.
5.) A program for YOU: A trainer will build a workout routine designed for YOUR goals. Through assessing and getting to know how your body moves, they will select exercises to help you achieve results safely. If you absolutely hate an exercise, they’ll work to help find a substitution that will get a similar result. They’ll also do their best to craft the workout so every minute of the session is efficient. Sets, reps, rest periods, exercise selection - it’s all selected for your body, and your goals.
