5 Steps I Take and Steps I Teach To Perform At Peak Levels
At 48, I’ve tried a variety of different approaches and techniques to achieve success in my career and personal life.
Age 22 me had no idea what was in store for me and my 24-years in career self. The interest changes, the role and title changes, W2 to self employed adventure, and so on.
As I reflect, the five themes that are most important to my overall well-being include the following priorities:
1. Deeply fulfilling and cultivated friendships. I have a sea of acquaintances and a circle of friends, but only a select few that get to know all of me. That’s a sacred, hallowed place not meant for many to enter. It’s special and important to me and my wellbeing.
2. Intentionally focusing on BEing a better life partner. This is critical whether you are single, married, widowed or divorced and longing for love. So much of cultivating a healthy relationship is a learnable skill! It’s something you can get better at with intention and effort. Same goes for parenting.
3. Brain health. As I tell my daughter, “we only get one dome.” I’ve had my brain scans done at The Amen Clinic and it has been instrumental in helping me target brain health for my neurotype. Supplementation is a game changer!
4. Mindset. For too long, the brain and mind have been treated as separate entities, but they actually play off each other. The healthier your physical brain, the healthier your mindset. And, it requires intentional thought shifting skills to make mindset shifting more automated.
5. Spiritually deep work. Some may call this Sanctification. I truly ventured deeper and healthier when I stopped drinking alcohol 4 years ago. Now, I’m resolving my escapism with food and inaction under stress. Only with integrating the Trinity (using God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit) do I experience radical, positive, lasting change in my life.
I consider it a privilege to serve you in your leadership training and talent development needs.
