So many lawyers wear this identity like armor:
“I can take anything.”
You survived law school, the bar exam, toxic partners, impossible deadlines.
You can handle it.
But somewhere “I can take anything” quietly became
“I have to take everything.”
That shift isn’t resilience.
It’s self-abandonment dressed as grit.
10% better doesn’t mean you lose your edge.
10% better means you don’t destroy yourself to be excellent.
From: “I can take anything.”
To: “I don’t have to take everything to prove I’m that good.”
If you’re honest:
Which one feels more like you right now—
“can take anything” or “don’t have to”?
