We’ve been fighting a gas pedal/ linkage issue all year. It would be fine for quite a few passes then the car would slow down and we would find we didn’t have full throttle anymore. We couldn’t figure out what was moving but kept re-adjusting it to get full throttle. It bit us twice in the last 2 weekends. The first time in the 2nd round if the Race of Champions at the IHRA bracket finals at Muncie, and the 1st round of the NHRA bracket finals main race at Norwalk. Well, finally last weekend after the first pass that the car ran one and a 1/2 tenths off, we re-adjusted it again. Tested it and the throttle pedal twisted into 2 pieces. We hopefully have it fixed for good now. Bought a new manual throttle pedal and linkage from Smith Racecraft that should end our all of our issues. That darn thing caused us a lot of headaches this year. It just kept twisting till it finally broke. I guess I have a lead foot. 😂😂

Our first weekend of racing is in the books and Midstate Dragway. It started a little rough Friday night during testing. The new gas pedal came loose on the first pass. We fixed that but didn’t quite have full throttle the rest of the weekend. We made it to 5 cars on Saturday and 8 on Sunday. The track surface was on point all weekend. The car started slowing down every pass Sunday. We went from 5.94 to a 6.02 the last pass. The mph was nearly identical but its slowing down in the first half of the track. We are thinking it may be the torque converter. We will get it sent in to be checked out and freshened up. We will hopefully be back in action with all of the little bugs worked out soon. Here’s a little video from 2nd pass testing Friday night.

MOROCCO, IN — There has been a change to the IHRA Division 5 (Thunder) Summit Team Finals at US41 Dragstrip with no on-track activity scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19. US41 Dragstrip officials have made many attempts to have city leaders grant them permission to run cars on Thursday but were ultimately denied!

Thursday will still be open from 9:00am - 9:30pm for parking and registration, with the rest of the weekend schedule remaining the same with gates opening at 8 a.m. on Friday, followed by an open time trial starting at 9 a.m. There are back-to-back Gamblers races following the time trial and a Golf Cart / Pit Bike race to end the on-track action.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday with a Team Captains Race and Special Awards photos at 8:30 a.m. Team photos are scheduled for 9 a.m. with a “Run 4 The Money” race at 10 a.m. The main event follows the “Run 4 The Money.” The track is available Sunday if needed.

US41 Dragstrip is the defending IHRA Division 5 Summit Team Finals champion. Class champions from 2023 were: Dax Darnell (Top), Tim Flynn (Mod), Dave Bierer (Sportsman), Brett Engle (Motorcycle) and Jersey Pautz (Junior).

Each region hosts a Summit Team Finals for every division. Any Summit SuperSeries competitor that has an IHRA membership valid according to IHRA records from at least July 1, 2024 and through the IHRA Summit Team Finals can win the 2024 Summit Team Finals main event championship in their division will become eligible for the Summit SuperSeries World Finals at Holly Springs Motorsports Park, October 9-12, 2024.

You can still attend the IHRA Summit Team Finals and be part of a member track’s team even if you became a member after July 1.

You can still compete for an individual division title in your class and help your track compete for the team championship. However if you were not an IHRA member by July 1, you will not be eligible to qualify for the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals through the IHRA Summit Team Finals.

Division 5 (Thunder) tracks are: US 41 Dragstrip, Bunker Hill Dragstrip, Great Lakes Dragaway, Wisconsin International Raceway, Midstate Dragway, I57 Dragstrip and Muncie Dragway.
