8th Grade Art 🖼️ Acrylic Paintings

Today our 6th grade Enrichment students visited Megan and Co. to wrap up their ‘Prairie to Cup’ unit. Students learned about plants native to Iowa and their medicinal uses while exploring how nature can be used in everyday life. They even had the opportunity to create their own custom tea blends! 🌿🍵

This hands-on learning experience was made possible through the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation (IALF) grant. We are so thankful for opportunities that bring learning to life for our students!

On Wednesday the 8th grade Enrichment students put their teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills to the test at Riddle Me That! They successfully escaped the “Silver Fox Grove” room with 4 minutes to spare! 🦊🔐⏰ They worked together, stayed determined, and never gave up!

Today Sheriff Greg Baloun presided over our 5th grade D.A.R.E. graduation at SLMS. Student Ember Hawn was presented with “Daren”, for her great character and participation. Additionally, Baloun presented Principal Terry Bruinsma with a plaque for his years of support to the program.
