Food plots are a critical component of successful whitetail deer management and hunting strategy. However, their effectiveness varies significantly based on several key factors, including forage tonnage production, soil quality, sun exposure, plot configuration, planting methods, and most importantly, strategic location. To maximize diversity, this two-acre plot is divided into multiple distinct sections featuring 15 different seed varieties. This intensive diversity ensures a highly attractive, continuous forage source from August through April. To optimize total seasonal yield, the plot underwent a meticulous, but necessary establishment process: it was rolled, seeded, rolled again, fertilized, and subsequently treated with glyphosate at a rate of two quarts per acre.
