๐๐๐ FOOTBALL PRACTICE TONIGHT โ 7:30 PM ๐๐๐
Shorts & shirts tonight!
Tonight is an IMPORTANT practice as we transition from conditioning into football and begin preparing for our upcoming scrimmage and season.
Weโll start together with a team warmup, then break into our age groups. For the 9U and 11U teams, coaches will begin evaluating players at different positions and figuring out where each athlete can best help their team.
Tonight weโll be working on:
๐ Speed, agility & footwork
๐ Catching & ball handling
๐ QB & center skills
๐ Running back & receiver drills
๐ Offensive line fundamentals
๐ Defensive positions & pursuit
๐ Football IQ, effort & coachability
๐ Beginning to establish positions and our game plan
This is why we really need our athletes at practice.
We're reaching the point where missing practice means more than missing some running or conditioning. Coaches are beginning to determine positions, build offensive and defensive groups, teach assignments, and figure out which combinations of players work best together.
Football requires 11 players doing their jobs together. When one player doesn't know where to line up or what his assignment is, it affects the other 10 players on the field.
And we want our parents to understand something else about the season ahead:
We play some serious football programs.
We will be lining up against communities like Broken Bow and Idabel, where youth football is taken seriously even at these ages. Those programs are going to practice, prepare and show up ready to play.
If we want to compete with them, we have to do the same.
We don't want our kids walking onto the field unprepared and getting blown out of the water because the other team practiced together while we didn't. Our athletes deserve the opportunity to step onto that field prepared, confident and believing they can compete with anybody.
That doesn't happen on game day.
It happens at practice.
We completely understand that families have things come up and occasionally a practice has to be missed. But whenever possible, please make football practice a priority from this point forward.
Our coaches have a short amount of time to take a group of individual athletes and turn them into a TEAM.
We're going to coach them hard. We're going to teach them the game. We're going to expect effort, discipline and teamwork. And we're going to do everything we can to put them in a position to be successful.
But we need our players HERE to do it.
Let's get to work! ๐ช๐
๐๐ TOGETHER. COMPETE. FINISH. ๐๐
