We had a blast at Ypsilanti Community Schools Back to School Bash! We had over 50 students and family members Try Tennis at our Red Ball pop-up courts. Thanks to everyone that participated and to YCS for including us in this essential event!

Blue Sky Tennis will be at the YCS Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 1st from noon - 3pm in Prospect Park!

We'll have Red Ball courts set up (weather permitting) and will have information on our programs and future events. 🎾 There could also be snacks! 😁

Our Board of Directors and staff had a very productive retreat last week. We reviewed all that's been accomplished in the short 2 years that we have been a nonprofit, and thought about all the possibilities the future holds.

We want to acknowledge the hard work of our volunteer board and staff members: (Left to right) Vince Cavataio, Penny Johnson, Kellie Carbone, Adam Bickersteth​, Vanda Shadigian, Chrissy Barua, Ann Blakeslee, and Martha Gove!

We also want to thank Pam Smith and Bridget Herrmann, from PSMITH Collaborative, for their excellent facilitation and leadership of the retreat. You gave us direction and lots to think about.

The weather in Michigan has been unpredictable, so we improvised and brought our Grizzly Learning Camp activities indoors. Campers learned cooperative skills through shuffle-toss and sandwich relay drills in the gym last week.

Our Summer session is in full swing! Campers from the Ypsilanti Community Schools Grizzly Learning Camps were happy to receive new racquets at the end of their session!

We are happy to be partnering with Superior Charter Township, again to offer FREE Try Tennis sessions at Community Park for youth ages 5–14, on Saturdays: July 11, 18, 25, August 1 & 8. 🌳

These beginner-friendly classes are a great opportunity for players to learn new skills, stay active, and have fun on the court in a welcoming environment. 🙂

All equipment will be provided! 🎾

We are thrilled and grateful to be a 2026 Linda Grasselli Sprankle Fund grant recipient! These funds will be used to help provide equitable access to youth sports through expanding our free Try Tennis program in the Ypsilanti area. This program introduces tennis to children who otherwise might never encounter the sport, helping them build physical literacy, confidence, and positive associations with movement.
