Extreme Power Iron Club (EPIC)

Extreme Power Iron Club (EPIC) Competitive Powerlifting Club Dedicated to hardcore powerlifting and strength endeavors. Founded in 2004 by Todd Frank, Phil Schultz and Mark Pinkerton (RIP).

Soon after charter members Mark Hennessey and Chuck Hudson joined to form the core group that comprised the Extreme Power Iron Club, or EPIC. We train in Ankeny, Iowa at Todd Frank's gym (affectionately dubbed, "The Hole," by Mark Hennessey). Over the years we have had around 50 or so lifters associated with the team. Current members number about 15-20 who train on a regular or semi-regular basis

at EPIC. Our members train and compete in various powerlifting events including Bench Press, Iron Man (Bench and Deadlift), and Full Power (Squat, Bench and Deadlift) meets. We lift in UPA, APF/WPC, APA/WPA, SPF and NASA sanctioned meets, as well as other non-sanctioned venues such as the Iowa State Fair, and the Iowa Games, where Mark Hennessey, Chuck Hudson, Phil Schultz, Kevin Frey, and Todd Frank have all served as organizers and/or officials. Some of our members also compete or have competed in Strongman and Bodybuilding events. Our team includes a wide variety of age and weight categories. Ages have ranged from teens to 70's. Weight categories of our members range from 165 lbs to 308lbs. We have had both men and women train and compete with EPIC. Team members have won many awards and honors including state, regional, national and world championships. Several also hold or have held state, regional, and national records. Several of our lifters have also taken Best Lifter honors in various meets.
