The Turnagain Bore Tide Rugby Football Club, a/k/a Bore Tide, was founded in 2014. We had our start through the Rugby 101 program put on at the Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds in 2014 and formed our team in time to participate in matches for the 2014 season. Our commitment and dedication to the sport shows in our recruiting and ability to attract out of state players, as well as the fact that our te
am had an undefeated season in 2015. It is an accomplishment we are very proud of and we will continue to strive for the same in future seasons. Rugby is a sport with a long tradition of camaraderie and lifelong friendships and the Bore Tide has embraced that tradition wholeheartedly. We also take great pride in our club’s ability to become more than just friends, but a “rugby family”. Our club includes people of all ages, sexes, occupations, backgrounds and skill levels whose common passion is their love of rugby. Some of our founding club members had their first experiences as rugby players during Rugby 101. We are working hard to promote and support the local rugby community, as well as provide international teams and individual visitors with a welcoming and competitive environment. As a new RFC, the Bore Tide is striving to grow our rugby family. Our members include business owners, law enforcement officers, graphic designers, construction contractors & engineers, college students, computer specialists, and active & retired military. Last season, we became the “brother” team to the newest women’s team in Anchorage, Anchortown Women’s Rugby. This will allow both teams to help grow the sport in Alaska by cross-recruiting and participating in joint events that allow us to attract players of both genders. We also social together and held a joint 2015 End of Season Banquet to help keep costs lower and encourage camaraderie. In order to attract players and to encourage participation, we try to keep our annual dues lower than other team sports. We look forward to seeing you at the pitch!
