Joy in Family Medicine Coaching I'm a family physician with over 20 years of experience, 16 years in academics. They've worked too hard to settle. Coaching is an evidence-based powerful tool.

Academic Physician Coach partners with FM Residencies to reconnect family medicine residents & attendings with joy in the job - partnering to build and sustain joy-filled careers from the ground up. I'm an ICF PCC accredited professional coach that works with family medicine residency programs and individual residents, faculty, and early career family physicians. I remain active as on-call faculty at Alaska Family Medicine Residency and fill in at the local FQHC. I believe in giving critical tools along with empowering coaching inside the incubator of primary care - family medicine residencies. Family physicians deserve to not only avoid burnout but find joy in their careers by taking back their agency, enhancing their energy, and integrating work with the fullness of life.

Applications are now open for the STFM CBME Certificate of Distinction: Adaptive Coaching in GME!

This 10-month longitudinal program is for family medicine educators who want to move beyond simply giving residents advice and develop practical coaching skills that strengthen career-enhancing reflection, individualized learning, feedback, and professional growth.

Following asynchronous prework beginning in December and in-person training at the STFM Annual Spring Conference, the ongoing commitment is two hours per month for 10 months, intentionally structured to be manageable for busy faculty.

Participants will receive:
• Practical, ethically grounded coaching education designed specifically for GME faculty
• Structured opportunities to practice coaching with peer and faculty support, observation, and personalized feedback
• ABFM Performance Improvement credit
• 27 ICF Continuing Coach Education units
• A national community of family medicine educators committed to helping residents grow via coaching

Our outstanding faculty include Drs. Deb Clements, Grace Shih, Santina Wheat MD,MPH, Regina Bray Brown, Velyn Wu, Stephenie Matosich, Olivia Rae Wright, Priyanka Tulshian, and Randy Pearson.

Only two cohorts will be offered, each limited to 24 participants.

Nineteen years ago, my husband finally convinced me to go “look” at Alaska.

We stepped off the plane, fell in love, and moved here three months later.

Now, as I prepare to leave Alaska for Washington, I’ve been reflecting on the plans we make, the paths we could never have predicted, and how we eventually chose Washington state as our next home.

How much of the life you are living now did you actually plan?
