What an outstanding day! The Amherst fishing team finished off the season by taking first place in the 2026 Perfect pair ice fishing challenge! Not only did the kids catch some amazing fish, including a club record walleye, they all walked away with a bunch of prizes. A giant thank you to HT Enterprises and some Amherst locals for making sure every kid walked away with a bunch of gear! Thank you so much to Hoover’s Live Bait for making sure we had bait for the day! Thank you to the Mykisen family for donating hamburgers to keep everyone fed! What an incredible season! I continue to be blown away by the support from the community and am blessed to be apart of you! We have a very bright future ahead!

Could not be more proud of these kids! 8th place at the state championships out of 93 teams! Thank you to Bill VanLannen; I couldn’t do this without you. Another incredible job by the Amherst Fishing Team. Together with our tag team partner Chequeamegon; we finished as a top 10 team in the state in the statewide North South Tag Team Tournament. A big thank you to the Tomorrow River Conservation Club and an anonymous donation for making sure every kid walked away with a prize today! The support of our sponsors and community continue to amaze me!

Outstanding job today by the Amherst Fishing Team. They endured tough conditions and a slow bite but fought to the end. 1st and 3rd place pike with the 1st place pike stringer of the day. 2nd place bass and 2nd place bass stringer for the day. At just under 500 inches we brought home the second place trophy at the Waupaca Chain of Lakes Tournament today. Thank you to all the parents that helped out today. The support from this community continues to humble me.

Congratulations to the Amherst fishing team on an amazing day! We had kids catch 3 state angler fish and 2 club records! We are currently 3rd place in the state in the state wide 300 challenge! Awesome job everyone and a special thanks to Joel Fry, John Williams and Bill VanLaanen for helping me out.

Our last fishing event of the year yesterday was a great success for the kids. Not only did we catch fish, all the kids walked away with a bunch of gear. A big thank you to the Tomorrow River Conservation Club, Calcutta Outdoors, Fleet Farm and local community members for supplying all the prizes. This was our best year so far and hopefully many more great years to come. I couldn’t do it without our great sponsors, support from parents, support from the community, support from the school, Mr. VanLannen, and these amazing kids! Thank you all for a great year!

We got 15th in the state championship out of over 90 teams! TY was also our schools 1st master angler.

The Amherst Fishing Team and their partner, Kettle Moraine, Rocked it today in the North South Tag Team Tournament. 285.5 inches of fish puts us at 4th place in the state! Awesome effort today everyone!

We took 2nd place at the Waupaca tournament this weekend with a total of 412.75 inches of fish. “We had great participation and tremendous effort. I could not be more proud of our kids. I hope everyone had a fun day!” -Coach Pickering

Our fishing club had their first outing this past weekend! We were competing in the 300 inch challenge with a goal of getting 300 inches of 15 panfish and 10 game fish. We ended the day with 408.5 inches. A big Thank you to the Tomorrow River Valley Conservation Club for providing prizes and to WindRider for the fishing shirts and Gollon Brothers for the bait.
