My Pondered Thoughts:
I don't wait for a special day to celebrate being alive.
Every morning I wake up, I get to choose what kind of day it is. Some days are not easy, but to know I get another day in this wild, fantastic journey called life, it is quite a blessing.
I stopped counting the years and really try to infuse creativity, awe, and wonder in each day.
When was the last time you cloud watched, forest bathed, or eavesdropped on birds chirping?

What if the inside of an old marker became an art tool?

Once I pulled apart this alcohol marker, I found this colorful fibrous material inside and immediately started wondering what I could do with it. Could it make texture? Could it become part of the artwork itself?

This is what I love about experimenting with art supplies. One discovery leads to another, and suddenly you're looking at a familiar material completely differently.

Umindak is for the woman who doesn't need to say much.
You feel her presence before she speaks. She moves with quiet strength and full intention.

This is one of my friends from Earth and Aerial Yoga. I love how empowering she is and I admire her physical and inner strength. It is a priviledge to see her wear this. If you see her around, you can recognize her distinct laughter and she will cheer you on as you both attempt do one more rep.

My mom visited for Thanksgiving and this little dance moment was exactly what I needed. Sheโ€™s always moved with this honest, playful joy, never caring how it looks, just how it feels. I love that I inherited that from her. Sheโ€™s given me so much simply by being herself, and I want to keep honoring that kind of joy in my own life.

What if creating didnโ€™t always have to lead somewhere?

Sometimes what Iโ€™m doing might look like Iโ€™m just killing time. But Iโ€™m actually learning. Iโ€™m observing the material, playing with it, taking it apart, and discovering what happens.

Kids do this naturally. They explore without needing to know where itโ€™s going. They might even destroy something just to find out whatโ€™s inside.

As adults, we can forget how valuable that kind of curiosity can be.

When was the last time you let yourself play with an art supply just to see what would happen?

Change feels heavier as I get older. Grey hairs, wrinkles โ€” they donโ€™t scare me as much as how time feels shorter. Whatโ€™s harder is choosing not to ignore what no longer feels right. I miss my family, and some days the uncertainty feels loudโ€ฆ but I breathe, take one step forward, and trust Iโ€™ll meet whatโ€™s ahead when it comes.

Do you ever want to save every version of something youโ€™re creating?

I struggle with this sometimes. Iโ€™ll make a layer I love and immediately want to stop and photograph it because Iโ€™m afraid Iโ€™ll lose it if I keep going.

But sometimes that layer was only meant to be temporary. It did its job. It became part of the process, and then it was time to let it go and keep creating.

Whatโ€™s harder for you: letting go of something you love, or trusting what comes next?

Not sure what to make? Sometimes the best place to start is simply to begin.

In this Gelli plate printing experiment, Iโ€™m layering paint, pattern, and texture onto salvaged brown paper and letting curiosity guide the creative process. Iโ€™m not trying to create a perfect Gelli print or control the outcome. Iโ€™m exploring how the colors, textures, and materials respond to one another and seeing where they take me.

For me, this is where intuitive art and mindful creativity meet: being present with the process, experimenting, and allowing something unexpected to emerge.

You donโ€™t always need a plan for your art. Start somewhere. Make a mark. See what happens next.
