Kintai Bridge (錦帯橋, Kintai-kyō) is a historical wooden bridge in the city of Iwakuni in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. The pedestrian bridge was built in 1673, spanning the Nishiki River in a series of five wooden arches. The bridge is located on the foot of Mt. Yokoyama, at the top of which lies Iwakuni Castle. Kikkou Park, which includes the bridge and castle, is a popular tourist destination in Japan, particularly during the Cherry blossom festival in the spring and the autumn color change of the Japanese maples. It was declared a National Treasure in 1922.

Amarillo Martial Arts training is conducted in the old method 古流武術 that emphasizes courtesy, discipline, and dedication to individual development. We adhere to the principle of on ko chi shin 温故知新 (modern learning from ancient knowledge) by training in the time-honored traditions and techniques that have been passed directly from teacher to student for centuries. Our lineage connects us directly to the originators of Okinawa Karate. Our curriculum is built upon the foundation of kihon 基本 (fundamentals), kata 型 (form), and bunkai 分解 (physical application) of Goju Ryu 剛柔流 Karate as developed by Miyagi, Chojun 宮城 長順 and propagated through Shinjo, Masanobu, founder of the Goju Ryu Shobukan 剛柔流尚武館. If you are seeking authentic karate training in the Amarillo Texas (Panhandle) area, we have a limited number of spaces available. Training is conducted Monday through Thursdays, Youth (age 10 -14) 6:00 to 7:00 pm and Adults 7:00 to 8:30 pm. For availability call (806) 367-7933 or email - [email protected]

“Simply knowing a kata does not make one strong. Knowing fewer kata is better: It is necessary to understand kata deeply and make them your own. In the past, there were few karate-justu experts who knew many kata. If you specialize and study a small number of kata, then you will be a serious student of karate. My senior, Miyagi Chojun [founder of Goju-Ryu] only practiced Sanchin kata for many years, and there is almost no one in Okinawa who does not know his name. If an individual studies a single kata correctly and deeply, it is more profitable than studying ten.” – Master Kenwa Mabuni.
