Good evening everyone.
Below I have posted all of the standings for both the Scholarship portion and Junior Gold portions of the tournament. I have also posted the financial reports for the JG Portion only.
I believe in transparency and also in educating people on policies that are often misunderstood. I believe in awarding as many spots to JG as I can so my advancer ratio is 1:4. Simply 1 advancer for every 4 entries. The USBC has a policy called EARP. The policy states “if the event has five, six, or seven entrants, the tournament will advance the winner under their 1:4 ratio. The second-place finisher would now be given the opportunity to fund any remaining shortfall between the entry money collected and the appropriate division entry fee and claim a spot in the Junior Gold Championships. This option is only available to the next player in line. If that player declines to exercise this option, it ceases at that point and the option is not available to other finishers down the line in the standings” During the 9am portion in the 18U girls division the 2nd place bowler did not exercise the option so the spot was not awarded. This left me with $100 in unassigned funds. Due to the JG portion not offering scholarships and the lineage being paid out of the scholarship entry fees, according to tournament rules and USBC guidelines the $100 excess will be held and forwarded to cover the expenses of future events. I hope this helps to explain why I collect extra $$$ for “Partial Spots”. If anyone has further questions or needs further clarification please reach out to me. Also as information the Tournament Staff are all volunteers and accept no money from entry fees. All fees ultimately get paid to the USBC to cover JG entry fees. I hope everyone had a great experience and of course we hope you all stay tuned and come back for future events!!
