🏊 What does it take to become a British Swim School instructor?

There’s a lot that happens before one of our instructors begins teaching your swimmer! 💙

Every British Swim School instructor completes background screening and a minimum of 40 hours of training, including water safety, survival swim skills, our teaching methodology, and how to safely and confidently support swimmers at every stage.

Here at British Swim School of Alpharetta, our leadership team works closely with new instructors through hands-on training, observation and practice before they’re ready to teach independently.

And we’re growing! 🎉 Do you know someone who would make an amazing swim instructor?

We’re looking for energetic, dependable people who love working with kids and are comfortable in the water. Previous swim-instructor experience isn’t required—we provide the training!

Who’s watching the kids? 👀💦

As parents, we all know how quickly our attention can get pulled in different directions—especially at a busy pool, neighborhood gathering, or family get-together.

Swim lessons are an important layer of water safety, but they’re only one part of the equation. Active adult supervision matters every single time children are in or around water.

One simple habit we love is the High Five Hand-Off ✋: designate one adult as the Water Watcher, and when it’s time to switch, physically high-five the next adult so everyone knows exactly who is responsible for watching the water.

No assumptions. No gaps. Just a clear hand-off.

As we enjoy our pools and warm Georgia weather here in Alpharetta, Milton & Roswell, keep this one in mind—and share it with another parent, grandparent or caregiver. 💙

Their patience, energy and dedication help our swimmers build confidence, learn lifesaving water safety skills and celebrate milestones both big and small. We’re so grateful for everything our team does for our families in Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell and our surrounding communities. ❤️
